Aka, I do not want to study for midterms. Entertain me!

1. Someone mentioned in the comments of IBARW 2 that it may be a good idea to promote it outside of LJ. To which I went, "Oh yeah. Duh." Except I singularly hate promoting stuff and I have no idea where to start. So I would be forever grateful if people pimped IBARW (on LJ and off)! I am not sure if I will have time to set up a site or something for it (see above re: midterms), but hopefully there will be a del.icio.us link collection going up. Someday. Really.



2. I blame this all on yhlee, who came up with the idea of lolrats! Unfortunately, I should not be fiddling around on Photoshop now, but I have an entire gallery of rat photos and I bet Google Images has a ton too. Clearly the lack of lolrats in the world must be remedied! I leave the idea in everyone's capable hands (esp. since I suck at thinking up good slogan things).

(1) Should we create an IBARW community or blog? It would be really nice to set it up the way metafandom has theirs set up to be automatically populated by delicious. (Pursuant to that: do we want to make it work outside IBARWeek? do we want a metafandom for race? Is metafandom itself serving this need? Deadbrowalking sometimes does, but I don't think that its focus.)

(2) Would it be worthwhile to create an IBAR zine? I think it would be neat, but I have to admit I am still suffering major minicomic envy from MOCCA. I'm not sure what goes into zine publishing and distribution.

Alternatively, we could propose it to Aqueduct as a Conversation Piece.

The existence of such a thing, with a "mission statement" at the front, would make it a lot easier to flack IBARW to things like the bulletin boards I'm on - I could give the board mods the link, so they could see what sort of effort this was.

I would like to have one again, but I am afraid of my cats, one of whom I call "Miss Monkeypaws" because she is the reason that, tho' i have no children, all my cabinets have to have baby latches. She has opened plastic storage tubs to get the catnip out!

That is *so* *fucking* *cool*. If I could get that working, I'd definitely sign up for delicious--so much time it would have saved me with the Readercon roundup!

Also, I think an IBARW community would be a good thing.

Yes! I have just created ibarw, though it is sadly devoid of any content whatsoever. Hrm. I like the idea of bookmarking things going on, though possibly I will stop the feed version of it during non-IBARW times just so people aren't spammed by it and metafandom. I think I will have past fandom-race things in there as well, since metafandom's race tag doesn't go back very far.

Also, yay zine ^_^.

Any thoughts about the icons issue? Whether "Spork Out Against Racism" is allowable, etc.?

We will be heading out on vacation toward the end of IBARW, so I won't be available that Friday or Saturday. But I should be able to help out with icons before then.

Ours used to make strange structures with their sawdust and toys. Often in the middle of the night, clunk, clank, clunk. I totally didn't have to suspend disbelief for Pratchett's Maurice and his Amazing Educated Rodents. (ooh, if you're a Rat Person you have to read that! Some suspense and Tragic Heroism, but not anywhere as angsty or bleak as NIMH.)

Dude! Yours are way smarter than mine! Ruki has mostly just figured out how to jump out of the bathtub and wander around everywhere, and I think he managed to figure out how to unlatch the cage door before I clamped it shut.

I read the Pratchett, it's awesome!
