Wiscon 31: Random notes

Woe! I have to leave tomorrow morning!
I have been having a fantastically good time; I think I managed to not babble too unintelligently at my panels; I got to meet cool people; I got to bitch a lot about racism without having to stave off arguments from How to Suppress; I discovered people actually like my LJ (I mean, I sort of knew because people comment and read and stuff but dude!! People on panels who are smart and cool have read a post of mine or something! It is so cool! I am still not over it!); and my head only really exploded about twice.
Also,
coffeeandink and I should apparently never be left alone together as either a) we cannot figure out which way to go on the stairs, b) her badge disappears into the ether that is the hotel room and only later reappears under a chair seat, and c) Yuki Kaori comes up and I think our voices rise to a helium-level pitch because the AWESOMENESS! It cannot be contained!! Also, there is a lot of incoherent hand flapping and incomplete sentences that largely consist of "Brains! Zombie embryos! OMG!"
Oh, right, Wiscon. See, Yuki Kaori totally scrambles my brains!
And I need to write up a more coherent Second Wiscon Experience post, because things felt very, very different from last year, and I think a lot of it was because of the Great Cultural Appropriation Debate of DOOM from last year. In a wonderfully good way that makes me feel much more hopeful.

Tue, May. 29th, 2007 05:17 pm (UTC)Doesn't it just? The stick figures are my favorite.
I think a lot more of this has been going on at cons and in LJs in my corner of fandom (not speaking for elsewhere, because the anti-racism blogosphere has been alive and well for quite some time). But yeah, it makes me happy that it is happening in my corner of fandom more and more.
