Despite several miscommunications that resulted in no [livejournal.com profile] jinian and no [livejournal.com profile] oracne, [livejournal.com profile] jonquil and I managed to make it to the farmer's market around 7:30 am. We didn't even stop for caffeine before making rounds, just because the line was so long!

I love my market back at home, but oh, the Madison one is so lovely! I am just sad that I forgot to bring my camera and couldn't take pictures for [livejournal.com profile] heresluck!

We both ended up having cherry turnovers at the place I got scones at last year, and then [livejournal.com profile] jonquil looked over to me and said, "We must establish one thing first. I cannot bring plants back to California."

Despite her resolution, we ogled at many, many plants and flowers along the way, including some absolutely gorgeous peonies that I could probably barely cup in my hand and huge nodding poppies on furry bendy stalks. Also, later we also had to remind ourselves that bringing meat back to California was also illegal, given all the sausages and grain-fed beef and pork and chicken and ostrich and emu there.

And now, the room is equipped wth preserves, sugar snap peas (!!!!! only one stand had them!!), tomatoes, squeaky cheese curds (!), sheep cheese, a baguette, bread, a mini strawberry-rhubarb pie and... probably other stuff I am forgetting. Except I just had Nepalese for dinner and am full.

But yes, the market was just as wonderful as last year, and it nearly made me want to be a gardener, despite the fact that I kill every plant I touch.

Have now also been to Cultural Appropriation panel (head did not explode) and the ensuing discussion (not quite exploded head but also somewhat tired). Now to tackle the panels tomorrow, in which I actually have to do things like talk!

Oh, my beloved market! I'm pleased, but not at all surprised, that you managed to find many delicious goodies.

And yay for Nepalese food! Himal Chuli or Chautara?

Oooh, you must have gone to Chautara. I think that my party and I were some of the people filling up Himal Chuli, as that's where we had dinner.

Do squeaky cheese curds actually squeak?

Yay for non-splody heads.
