Higuri You - Cantarella, vol. 03 (Eng. trans.)
Sun, May. 20th, 2007 10:45 pmHuh. Ok. I keep bouncing back and forth wrt this series: I thought vol 1 was boring, I liked vol. 2, and I am completely weirded out by the cracktasticness of vol. 3.
Possibly this is because I keep reading them half a year apart. But um, yeah. I wasn't expecting Cesare Borgia to be damned quite that literally. I mean, I knew it was literal, but... wow. That was literal.
For example, I was not expecting his dead mother to turn into some bare-breasted demon thing solely to torture him! Though I suspect that will be more in the next volume than this. Nor did I expect for his blood to be some kind of demonic elixir!
Also, there is a magical moth man. The guy! He turns into a moth! Except he still has a human head! It is SO BIZARRE!
Possibly this was all mentioned in vols. 1-2, but I forgot?
Because dude! Moth man! Elixir blood!
And I keep wanting to shake my head at Chiaro, who is an assassin, but apparently a rather unworldly assassin. Because it doesn't feel like Cesare has asked him to do anything dreadful that is beyond the normal scope of assassins. I get that killing kids sucks, but ... Chiaro is an assassin! I mean, if Cesare asked him to murder a child and then do some sort of Satanic ritual with the body and then dance in the graveyard, ok.
Possibly my expectation for fictional Gothic assassins is a little up there.
In conclusion: Moth man?!
