2. Looking for monkey folktales for Secret Project #1! Well, mostly looking for non-Journey to the West monkey folktales. Non-European ones would be preferrable for said project.

India has a lot of monkey lore. For Hanuman, see the Ramayana... or don't, it's hugely long, but try a children's version, which will be both abridged and readable. "The Monkey's Heart" is famous and also shows up in Western folklore, in various variants, of which "The Ogre's Heart" is probably the best-known; but there are other monkey-centric stories in "The Jataka Tales." A search for "Jataka" plus "monkey" should get you the specific titles.
