I've rather amazed myself by not watching 18 episodes in a day, like I usually do when I'm hooked on something. But I always want to draw out Honey and Clover, and I'm glad I did. I had a bit of a down day today (ah work, why are you so cruel to me?), and I felt glum and tired and weary. And now, I am glad; not bouncy-happy, but just a quiet, calm, satisfied happy. Oh show, I love you so much!

I also watched the specials (I like F more than L, largely because it has Miwako antics), but am not blogging about them because I am overwhelmed by love of Honey and Clover II.

Also, I actually squealed out loud somewhere in episode 3: "EEEEEE Best Episode Ever!"

Oh! Oh! I am such a sap! Ok, I will get the less thrilling stuff out first. I mean, it's not that Takemoto isn't thrilling. He is very lovely. But episode 3!

Also, I cannot believe I actually paid attention to the entire recap episode and grinned like an idiot the entire way through because I had missed this world and these characters so much, even though it's only been a few days since I've watched it last. Just... oh.

I like that we get to see Morita's brother again. I'm actually not in all that much suspense about the Hagu-Morita-Takemoto triangle, just because Takemoto finally revealing his feelings to Hagu felt like the big climax. And I think Hagu will do what Hagu wants in the end, which is really all that I want for her. I am amazed that none of the complex love triangles/squares/assorted geometric shapes are not driving me crazy; I think it's because all the characters feel so real and so aware. I usually hate love triangles because of the jealousy and the backstabbing and the hurt involved, but even when Yamada is being hurt here, it doesn't drive me insane because Mayama isn't leading her on, and she knows that, and she's just trying to move on, but she can't, and I sympathize with her so much.

And now I just degenerate into a giant squeeing heap and ok I was not really a Nomiya fan before and then I reconciled myself to him and now I am completely in love because waaaaaaah! He drove all the way to Tokyo! Because he thought she was crying on the phone! And he knows that it's such a hopeless and thankless thing to fall for someone in love with someone else (as all the characters know, but his situation seems the worst of all), and he's so casual and cool, except somehow, in this case, he's been completely blindsided, and he's not casual or cool anymore at all. And the ferris wheel! And the entire sequence in the car, when he's thinking, "You probably still have a lot of crying left to do."

And asking her to call him if she needed to, and then actually telling her how he felt! Wah! I flail! And oh, Yamada, sitting there, not knowing how exactly to handle it. She's so used to dealing with her own unrequited love and thinking of herself as the yearning party that whenever she's confronted with other people loving her, she's completely confused.

And just... Nomiya! *flails* It's that "oh fuck, I just said that" look on his face as the train pulls out.

I hug them all so much!

Eeeeeeee! *flails more*

I love special F, because of the insane Miwako antics, and because everytime they showed another new shirt I collapsed into helpless giggles.

And yep, that was pretty much my reaction to episode 3. I love how Nomiya can't quite believe what he's doing when he picks up his keys and drives from Tottori to Tokyo--and his face when he finds out that Miwako has sent Yamada to Tottori. I love the unicorns, as silly as they are, because they make me laugh and laugh. And his reaction after his confession, when he's all embarrassed, and then he's even more embarrased when he realizes that Yamazaki has overheard. It's really the first time we get inside his head--up to then we've mostly seen him from other people's eyes--and it's so awesome.

Also, I am amused by Yamada's "brain not computing" expression on the train home. Heh.

I liked how that loose end got tied up, re: Yamada's attacking Mayama in that episode way back when.

I have rewatched this one many times--maybe more than I've watched the series finale. It's amazing how Nomiya goes from slightly sleezy to COMPLETELY AWESOME. The episode reduces me to a puddle of goo again and again.

I love being able to see him in doubt and feeling embarrassed and etc., instead of always being the cool sempai.
Nomiya re-equipped with the suit of adolescence! Hee!

On a side note, I really like the Season II ED song, "Split." The lyrics are so perfect. I have it in iTunes and every time I hear it evokes that bittersweet Honey and Clover feeling.

When I was doing some LJ-hopping in search of commentary, I came across someone whose reaction to the episode had been to start using a tag along the lines of "nomiya is beyond awesome."

I am so glad that you have watched and liked this episode, because I no longer need to hide my massive fangirling for Nomiya/Yamada, which I deemed spoilery.

I have some fic bookmarked, but you shouldn't read it yet. And Nomiya does show up in my wee ficlet.
