Oh poor Wes.

Things that felt off:
- the geniality (sp) Wes's dad was showing at the beginning completely didn't match my picture of him from previous knowledge about his dad. And even though it was eventually a cyborg, it must have been enough like his father, because Wesley himself was completely convinced.
- the almost flippant attitude Angel had in his final discussion with Wesley, on how he had killed his own father.

Things I really loved:
- "Apparently at one point, Percy here was named Head Boy. That's all I have to report" and "Pavaine, you can't take me back to hell again" or words to the like in the elevator.

And more... Wes remembers Lilah! How? What? I had assumed that he'd entirely forgotten about the father will kill the son prophecy, but the boy had another interpretation. The boy thinks that Wes did remember the prophecy, but nothing about it, and so was completely confused when Angel brought it up, because it had lacked all context. Not sure if I agree with him, but it would be interesting. Also, if Wes remembers Lilah, what's with the whole Fred thing? Does he only remember Lilah as some girl he was having sex with because he couldn't have Fred? Does he even remember Fred and Gunn used to go out? Also, I have no idea what ME is doing with this. Fred seems pretty put off by it, and Wesley is scarily devoted to her, considering the lack of response and knowledge about her. I just cringe every time Wes goes off on a limb to tell Fred how devoted he is to her, because she seems pretty happy with her geek love. And I can't see Fred going for Wesley, and it seems as though his intensity only scares her off.

The final phone conversation broke my heart, like in whatever S2 episode (Disharmony?) in which Wes tries to wish his father happy birthday. And I just felt so bad for him the entire time, how he started being awkward Wes from Buffy and tripping and doing the wrong thing. I wonder if Giles triggered those reactions in him back in Sunnydale?

Also, a chilling realization of just how far Wesley will go to do what he thinks will have the right end. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't remember that he can't always foresee the end, and that all his sacrifices and uncertaintly are sometimes for nothing. I'm a bit scared the season is going to do a slight retread of S3, maybe the characters unconsciously re-acting out their roles. And Angel... is he expecting another betrayal from Wes? Is he almost resigned to it, that his friend will inevitably stab him in the back? Eve is annoying me again too with her confidante status and "oh Angel I can read your mind" type behavior. I want to see if Spike's thoughts about her in the elevator are true.
