So... I have two free songs from iTunes. And since LJ knows all, I will poll everyone on what I should get! I tend to like happy, upbeat songs. Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Dar Williams and Indigo Girls.

And also, since I can't think of anything else to blog:

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. [livejournal.com profile] yhlee gave me M.

1. Mushrooms - sure, they're fungus, but they're such tasty fungus! I especially love porcini mushrooms and still can't forget this delicious meal in Italy from two years ago. Simple pasta with grilled porcinis, and the entire thing was divine.

2. Mick Takeuchi - mangaka of Her Majesty's Dog, which is cute and fun and sweet, and the characters all behave like they are clever people, as opposed to being too stupid to live just to further the plot. Also, did I mention the cute and fun and sweet?

3. Roy Mustang - from Fullmetal Alchemist. Ok, I actually love the Elric brothers better, but their names don't start with "m." I love how devious and scheming he is, but still with a certain something that makes people want to follow him. Also, it's hilarious whenever he interacts with his officers. I have a small figurine of Roy on my computer, standing next to Ed, and I am always amused that figurine Roy is shorter than figurine Ed because they're from different series. I feel figurine Ed gloats about this a lot.

4. Manga - You all knew I would say this! Anyway, it really only started to eat my brain again starting last year, with Saiyuki, and continues to eat my brain today.

5. Robin McKinley - she was one of the first people I read who redid fairy tales. I love how quiet her books are, how they talk about things like cooking or gardening or reading and make them magic as well.

6. Merino wool - I actually don't enjoy wearing it all that much, but oh, the yarn! It's soft and springy, and best of all, you can spit-splice it together! Yay, no knots!

7. Musicals - I'm rewatching Rent the movie right now, and singing along at the top of my lungs. I love musicals, the combination of stage and words and song and dance, even when they're staged by Andrew Lloyd Webber (I own up to my middle school obsessions!). There's just something about music and dance and story that totally works for me.

8. Meta - Well, sometimes too much makes my brain hurt, but I love metanarrative and stories taking on the idea of Story, a la Princess Tutu.

9. Morpheus - Maybe I don't love him per se, but he's the driving force behind what's still one of my absolute favorite comic series. He broods obsessively, doesn't have much of a sense of humor and has too much of a sense of responsibility.

10. Mango ice - it's not ice per se, but a sort of shaved ice dessert with condensed milk, mangos and mango ice cream on top that was very popular in Taiwan a few years ago. The sad thing is that I usually go home during winter, so I can't get it anymore.
