Spoilers for all three episodes!

I officially adore Jin now. I love that he is insanely protective about his swords -- well, as insanely emotional as he gets. That look on his face in the pawn shop was awesome! Along with the fact that he cannot hold his alcohol at all and ended up nodding off at the bar. He is so dorky yet so stoic and so cool!

I was also totally amused by the rapping of the Big Man on Campus in Edo and the mirrors and the lights and everything. That plus Jin backstory! I am growing extremely, extremely fond of this show, largely because I really love watching Jin and Mugen and Fuu interact.

I'm not too fond of Mugen yet, but I suspect I will be later. My favorite bits were him attempting to train his beetle by having it pull a rock and his thought that maybe he should meditate under a waterfall. I adore this show's sense of humor.

Also, I squeed when I saw mysterious street killer's pose, because I am learning something like that in wushu! Muhahaha!

Alas, I cannot kill people with my chi yet.

The marijuana episode is ... I guess I can't really say "on crack," huh? But it's crazy insane! And I loved the animation and all the shots of Mugen running through the forest attempting to lose the tengu/warrior priests. And the entire dialogue between Fuu and Jin: "Blah blah blah question?" "Hmmm."

And then after I was laughing like mad, there was the lady in a brothel episode.

Well, I laughed like mad at Jin having absolutely no idea how to kill, skewer, or cook eels and the absolute deadpan expression on his face as he handed Shino water after feeding her horrifically burnt eels. Talent indeed! And I love that even though it's a Jin episode, they did manage to get some Mugen and some Fuu in (the beetle! Hee!). I especially like how Fuu is rather upset that Jin would leave them, and that she and Mugen go after him anyway.

That moment at the end when Mugen jumps into the fight and Fuu tosses Jin his beloved swords is one of my favorites right now.

Wow. I am so completely a sucker for small groups of people who seem to have nothing in common and end up being a sort-of family (see: Buffy/Willow/Xander, Angel/Cordy/Wes and/or Angel/Cordy/Doyle, the Sanzo ikkou, the two Nanas).

But yes, Jin rocks.

Want more Fuu backstory, so she isn't just the girl who keeps them all together!

(I am up this late because I read two volumes of Naruto in scans-- thank you so much for showing me how to use Comic Viewer.)

We do get Fuu's backstory, and that's about all I can say about that without spoilers.

I don't know if my favorite part of the pot episode was when Mugen started to hallucinate exactly like a bad '60s movie while fighting-- and kept fighting--or when two of the crazy ninja priests kissed each other, or the crazy ninja priest conga line.

I loved Fuu and Jin from the start, but took longer to warm up to Mugen. Your next disc has a two-part episode that's mostly concerned with his backstory.

Finally, I told you Jin had another fateful meeting with unagi!

It's the obligatory recap episode.

Are you watching episodes all the way until the end? As soon as the credits showed up, I usually skipped ahead. But it looks like many, possibly all episodes except the last, have a tiny skit (term?) at the end. I wonder if any are especially entertaining....

The term is omake. And I didn't know that! I must re-watch!

I may have overestimated how many of them there are. But both "Cosmic Collisions" and "Baseball Blues" have omake.

Some Bleach episodes also have omake (plus, some fansubs have notes at the start, which I missed because after seeing each opening once, I skip openings, too). I complained that Matsumoto's costume is impractical given her big breasts, but [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks countered that she was kind of happy about this because of one of the omake where this is addressed. Maybe it would be funnier to see it without reading a description, and I think this happens late in the Soul Society arc, so perhaps try to look for it and only after having seen it or definitely missing it, come back to see my exchange with [livejournal.com profile] rushthatspeaks:
