Farscape 1x16 A Human Reaction

Wasn't too surprised by this one -- I think I'd heard already that Farscape had a good deal of these alternate reality things. Also, it didn't seem likely that they'd let Crichton go so soon.

On the other hand, Aeryn in a dress was really funny.

Also, does that mean Aeryn and Crichton really slept together, or was that the Crichton's imagination version of Aeryn, or what?

Kindly aliens facing extinction apparently bore me instead of generating sympathy.

Ok episode, but not too interesting.

Farscape 1x17 Through the Looking Glass

Another sort of meh episode. Chiana is annoying me a little -- I don't know what it is. I think it's the accent or the head tilt.

I still don't actually have a good feel for any of the characters except Crichton and Aeryn; everyone else feels more like a type instead of a person(/alien).

Also, the color-coded Moyas were irritating.

Also also, the last shot with the crew laughing happily together didn't really resonate for me; we've had so many episodes where the crew is at each other's throats that... I dunno.

On the other hand, I am glad that a lot more episodes are taking place on Moya instead of bad alien planets.

Farscape 1x18 A Bug's Life

Hrm, ok, this was more interesting! Aeryn sort of regretting not being a Peacekeeper anymore. Crichton talking with a funny accent. I wonder -- does that translator thing translate the accent as Seba.... that alien language? How does that work anyway?

Probably one of those things where it's best not to ask ;).

And bad, bad Rygel and Chiana!

Also, the shot of Aeryn back in Peacekeeper uniform was extremely cool. Crichton, unfortunately, looked much dorkier.

What totally sold me was the last bit between Crichton and Aeryn, down to Aeryn's matter-of-fact acceptance.

Ok episode, but not too interesting.

I foresee you thinking very differently about that assessment by the time you see Nerve and The Hidden Memory (the two-parter that made me fall in love with the series, which should be coming up for you very soon). Doing my best to not be spoilery, it is an important episode (maybe THE most important early episode) arcwise, for the entire series, as you'll see.

Oh, man. If AHR didn't sell you...that's sort of a High Classic of fandom.

Hm. Are you enjoying the show? Because you're right at the point that I started loving it, and I'm racking my brains for the next episode that might hook you.

I suppose it does no good to tell you the third season rocks. *g*

For me, it was Nerve/Hidden Memory, which should be coming up really soon. So there's still a shot of hooking her. ;-)

Well, I watched from the first, for the weirdness and the muppets, but the thing that totally hooked me for good was AHR through Hidden Memory. The characters, their messiness and awkwardness. The ways that scenes/plot points mattered, and continued to matter.

(Infuriatingly, except when they didn't. Even season 1 had incoherence-moments of the like that eventually made me want to kick the show in the butt.)

Is this a rhetorical question or do you really want to know? Because it is brought up again later. I can answer you now if you so desire. ;-)

I bought mine from DeepDiscountDVD.com--but even those are pricy. Just cheaper than retail.

Eeeeeeee, yeah, you're in some of the primo S1 Farscape...."Human Reaction" and "Through the Looking Glass" are two of my favorite eps. I didn't start seriously watching Farscape til about the end of S2, tho, I think, and didn't like the S1 eps when I first saw them; it wasn't til I had fallen in love with the show that I could watch most of them with enjoyment.

If you watch the deleted scenes, there's textual support: they slept together. The real Aeryn, D'Argo, and Rygel came down to the surface, and remember the whole thing once they're back on board.

Arrrgh. I see everybody else considers this a spoiler; I don't, since it's right there on the DVD.

I just saw that UPN is going to start showing Farscape. I really, really want the DVDs, but can't afford them right now. So I think I'll try to watch on UPN. Been quite awhile since I last saw season one.

No kidding? -- and yeah, every Farscape fan I know wants the DVDs and can't afford them (similar to X-Files fans some years ago). If UPN is rerunning eps, that would be neat, since Skiffy seems to've dropped it entirely ((sob)).

The Starburst DVDs are much, much cheaper, and they have something like six episodes per. And the reward for waitign is that they have more commentary than the originals!

Yeah, the new Starburst Editions are each around $20 for around 6-7 eps whereas the originals were $20 for 2 episodes each. Still don't know why they can't just put them out in full season sets.
