X, ep. 22-24
Sat, Nov. 27th, 2004 05:37 pmOk, that just broke my heart in about eighteen different places. It took a while getting this disc (the boy put other things on the queue while I was in Italy), so I had sort of forgotten a lot of what had gone on previously, which splintered the emotional arc somewhat. But oh, it doesn't take them long to gut you with the pain again.
Just, ow ow ow.
It's the Dragons of Heaven, all so very broken because everything they want to protect has been taken away from them, that kill me. And then comes the big resolution to the Arashi/Sorata arc, which was my favorite in the manga, and the pain! The needless betrayal and the cruel hand of fate! The pain factor is increased by the fact that the anime has finally overtaken the manga, plotwise, and I don't know what's coming next. I was very frantic when I thought Yuzuriha was going to bve killed, and even more so when Arashi showed up and cut down Kusanagi.
Er. Yes. Did I mention how completely distraught I was at the entire second-to-last episode? I really want Arashi fanfic now.
And then the last episode... Gah. Destiny can't be circumvented, but it can be somewhat overcome, and Kamui finally understands that he can't fight Fuuma, can't do anything but love him. And Subaru, finally coming out of his coma because he does have something left to protect *sniffles*. And Kamui's kekkai, so fittingly in the shape of a globe, of the world that he finally cares about. And oh, the parallels between Subaru and Kamui, except Kamui didn't have Hokuto trying to protect him, and so dies like Subaru wanted to, at the hands of the one he loves most.
Incoherency due to too much angst. *dies*
