Joan of Arcadia 1x12 Jump
Fri, Sep. 24th, 2004 11:17 pmOMG I love this show so much. *hugs JoA*
Again, I am almost embarrassed by how much I cry. I loved Joan's absolutely awful, yet very good eulogy, and the mom's undignified little snort, and I don't know how Amber Tamblyn does it, but her face just crumpled up there and I started leaking as well. As always, the show is best when it's about the relationships between the various characters.
And may I just stand here and cheer for non-white characters? And potential interracial romance? *cheers*
So, yeah, I pretty much lost it when Joan started crying on the podium, and then again when she finally managed to talk to Adam, and then of course when Helen read out the letter (although a little bit of my brain kept thinking, but the boat's supposed to be red I thought). I have no real commentary, except that I really, really, really love this show. It's so nice seeing the characters manage to sort of climb back from the various messes they were in -- I hope Will enjoys his new job, and oh, yeah, I got sniffly during his conversation with Kevin as well. I forgot to mention previously, but I liked how Kevin used the exact same words Will did when he was talking about growing up in "The Devil Made Me Do It." I may also have been a little sniffly when Joan first found out about Rocky as well.
Am still surprised by how often this show makes me cry, but gah, it's so good, and I loved the end, with everyone reaching out and connecting. I love how the patching up of Joan and Adam's relationship didn't just involve them, it involved Luke and Grace and Helen, and I liked how Helen was a part of the letter reading as well. I like that it's about community and not just individual romantic relationships, and how there are ripples.
