JoA 1x08-1x09

Ow ow ow, Joan, why in the world did you think that was a good idea? Poor Adam.

St. Joan and Drive, He Said didn't impress me that much, mostly because having the teacher sit down and talk to Joan like that stretched my disbelief a little. This is probably just because I can't imagine any of my old teachers doing that, but that's just me. Also, the entire thing about Joan being crazy or not felt a little too much like the debate about whether God was God or the devil in the previous episode, and nothing in it was really resolved. But then (because obviously I can't watch a JoA episode and not sniffle) came Kevin's outburst at the therapist, and gah, that hurt.

JoA 1x10 Drive, He Said

Drive, He Said was also a little on the wobbly side, mostly due to the Will storyline (and the pregnancy storyline, which seemed just sort of randomly tossed in there), and I felt the overarching theme of coincidence didn't work, especially considering the fact that we have a show with a corporeal form of God that tells people what to do and somehow knows the outcomes that will result from those actions. But still some good moments. Kevin is still working on the boat! And also, Joan and Luke's conversation in the car was absolutely priceless.

"Devil Made Me Do It" wrecked me. Not just because of the Joan & Adam trauma, but also due to the B-plot with Kevin and Luke, and the whole scene at the hardware store--I fell in love with Luke a bit right there. And the conversation in Kevin's room afterward made me sniffle.

"St. Joan" and "Drive, He Said" were so-so episodes with some nice moments. (e.g. the HotDogGod!) Let's see... you're now up to "Uncertainty Principle" and "Jump". Yay! Those two rock. Post-"Jump", there are a few episodes that I felt were sub-par, although the show recovered nicely and finished the season pretty strong.

And hey, new ep tonight. ::looks at the clock:: Dude, I don't think you'll be able to watch 13 episodes from now until 8 pm. If you wanna watch it real-time tonight, I'd recommend at least watching the season 1 finale, "Silence", because some Major Stuff happened in that episode that would be relevant to the new episode.
