Squee!! Much love for my show!

This felt like one of the early Angels, maybe S1 or early S2, great MOTW (as it were) that highlights character issues. It actually reminded me a lot of I've Got You Under My Skin or Untouched in terms of creep factor.

This is what I wanted from Hellbound, although, like Hellbound, I think they pulled their punches on Spike a leetle too much. I want something like Amends for Spike -- not the magic snow, but a real, in-our-face look at all the damage he's done, and I wonder if the WB or the Angel writing team isn't delivering on that because of the Spike fanbase. Mind you, I say this as part of the Spike fanbase, because I want to see him beaten up and tortured and angsty! Hee hee. The pulling back reminds me also of the last minute solution of Lineage. I think I made an anguished meep when they cut back to show Spike's arms, along with a "oooo" when they cut to show Spike tying Dana down.

Although I do get how the mixup in Dana's head took place, and it makes more sense, because prior to that I was wondering why there had been no recognition of Spike during their first meeting.

Andrew needs a haircut. That said, he reminds me a lot of William the Bloody Awful Poet, hee. (ooo thoughts of alterna-Spike/William getting trained as a Watcher by Giles ala Restless) There are not enough words to say how much I loved the reunion scene, or Angel's "VamPIRE. I mean, vampire." The exposition was a bit annoying, even with an Andrew spin -- not quite as brilliant as Faith and the Vulcan.

I like this little bit of Spike explaining why he hasn't told Buffy he's alive yet much, much better than the bit at the end of Harm's Way. Short, plus, I got the kind of feeling that he was almost embarrassed to be alive after all that.

Another oooo moment at "Sorry love, but I don't speak Chinese."

I also wanted a little crayon drawing of the shadow play in Get It Done, hee.

And I did feel that in the end, the writers (or someone) were pulling back too much for Spike -- turns out he didn't commit the horrible acts on Dana, and while he does admit that it doesn't really matter that he didn't kill one family of the thousands he did, it still doesn't quite bring home to the audience just how bloody of a vampire he was. Plus he gets his hands back. I guess they would never maim a character as big as Spike for good. But oh, there was a good shiver of horror when I wasn't sure if they would or not.

That said, I absolutely love the ending. I love the slap to Angel, delivered via Andrew and his army of Slayers... he's been getting worn down day by day, but this isn't just attrition, this is the door slamming in his face. I also loved the final Angel and Spike dialogue, where I kind of got the sense that Spike was determined not to brood halfway because that's what Angel does. And yet, he is sorry, but he doesn't know how to deal with it.
