Alias 1x01-1x19 general impressions

Spoilers for Alias S1 ahead:
The boy has greatly taken to Alias, as have I, although probably not as much as him. But I'm glad we have a show to watch together that we both enjoy. I always feel like he's just watching Buffy and Angel because I do. Anyhow, I read this post on how TV shows too often take tragedy over the top, and was wondering if that was happening with Alias. I don't know. I think it's because all the plots are so connected to each other I have a hard time keeping it together. I mean, I've already almost forgotten about the Rambaldi prophecy thing with the revelation of Syd's mom, and that was only a few episodes ago! So. I like Sydney.. I like the kind of shy way she smiles that brings out the two deep dimples in her face, but I don't grok her the way I grokked Buffy and Angel characters. Instead, I found Jack and Sloane, who are just awesome. Right now we're at the point where Jack has just found out Irina/Laura is still alive, and I got to watch him watching the tape of her telling how she completely duped him. Ow. And I love it because he doesn't say anything at all, and you can just tell. And I love Sloane because he's freaking smart. I like how he notices things like Jack continuously pleading for him to spare the lives of Sydney's boys, and how he's so on top of things. He seems nice, but he's got a killer brain, and he's a really scary person for Sydney and Jack and Vaughn to be pitted against.
I'm kind of meh about Vaughn and the whole Sydney/Vaughn thing. He seems nice, very stolid, but little else. Will just annoys me completely, thanks to the stupid plot in the beginning about his article -- No! You must publish my article! Oh, now that you want to publish it, I've decided it hurts to many people. Stop! Oh, now that you don't care anymore, I've found new evidence! You must publish my article! Grrrrrrrrr. Plus, his crush on Sydney just annoys me. I have, however, found that I really like the Will and Francie dynamic, when they're attempting to gang up on Sydney or just playing video games together. Somehow, I doubt the season will go this way...
We were just introduced to Noah, who also completely pissed me off. Glad he is dead. Ha.
Cannot wait for The Man's identity to be revealed. Thanks to being a TV fan on the internet, I know the general plot points, but the boy doesn't. So it'll be really fun to watch him ^_^. Plus, I know I have good Jack-angst to look forward to, which is awesome.

Sat, Oct. 4th, 2003 01:20 am (UTC)We just watched the episode Sark shoots Will in the end... the boy was quite disappointed when I told him I was pretty sure it was a dart, not a real bullet.
Although, right now, I'm more pissed off at Sydney, who just revealed her cover to Will, abandoned her SD-6 AND CIA missions, probably put him in danger in case SD-6 found out, and put herself in danger too! Grrrrr. One can see why I found Wes' ends justifies means mindset interesting...
