Buffy 7x20 Touched (more thoughts)
Tue, May. 6th, 2003 10:00 pmI thought Dawn's body language and voice looked/sounded just like Tara when she started explaining the Turkish spell.
Boy pointed out that Buffy's Matrix moves were matched by Matrix music.
The First is skanky and wants to have sex! Hee. And also echoing Buffy's "I just want to feel" from OMWF. They're so going to kill the First by getting it into someone's body.
Now I'm thinking maybe they'll have Faith lead the girls and Buffy largely acting alone. I like Giles cooperating with Faith... wish it were still like that with Giles and Buffy. But the First still has me wondering if Buffy is supposed to lead, complimenting Faith and all. But I think Giles and Wood are right. Faith is a good leader, just like she was on Angel. She leads not by speechifying and by distancing herself like Buffy (hopefully. Please ME, show us nice, functional adults!), but rather by knowing the girls and having their trust. Although I thought she started verging on Buffy-style leading when Kennedy was protesting, which I don't think is good. I liked her plan with the Bringers and thought it made sense. It just sucks that it's a Faith-leads-girls-into-trap, of course, proving Faith is just as bad as Buffy. And yet, I don't think she is because she's listening to the others. And while pure democracy is very messy, as demonstrated in the earlier scenes, leading isn't just about saying, "I want this done. Go do it." and not listening to everyone. Instead, I think it's about organizing people so the leader gets all the input needed and all the info needed to act, figuring out a course of action, putting through betas to figure out weak points and then acting.
Now I'm wondering if ME's pointing us in the direction that Buffy works best alone, because she definitely kicked ass in the scene with Caleb. Maybe Buffy just isn't good at leading people who aren't her? *sigh*
