Angel 4x17 Inside Out

Not sure if I liked it, strangely enough. Felt a little too expositiony to me, without enough of the cool little details that I love to back it up. So now I'm totally confused! Everything on the show I've been watching has been leading up to this moment? Does this include Doyle's death? Who's in control of all this? Who are the Powers That Be?
Why were things like Wes sleeping with Lilah, getting Fred from Pylea, and Gunn's sister so important?
Hum.
I guess this is a way of completely overhauling the series, like they said they would be doing?
I also just felt as though the acting this episode was a little off, from Angel to Cordy to Connor. Dunno why though. Loved Angel's little thing to Wes about caring about Lilah's death because Wes thought it was important. Despite being Spuffy, I do think the Wes/Lilah thing was handled much better... no, oh you slept with the enemy you evil wicked thing type attitude.
Gunn is still cool ^_^. Although are he and Fred getting back together? Huh? Or is he just more confident now in general?
Wes with a gun is extremely, super-duper, all sorts of silly happy adjectives cool. Love Wes. So much. (though sometimes miss dork!Wes.)
They are definitely using too much slo-mo this season like John Woo. Yes. Just wait.. next episode with be slo-mo shots of bullets falling from Wes' cool gun with slo-mo pigeons or doves flapping in the background!
Was also confused about Darla. Was that person really Darla? Because she didn't sound much like the Darla I remember. Is she souled Darla? Would souled Darla have cared about her son like that without his soul influencing her? Or is it Darla with some remaining mystical connection to Connor's soul, making her more good?
Lots of stuff about mothers in this ep, especially contrasting and comparing Darla, Connor's real mom, and Cordy, Connor's lover/mother. Funnily enough, it was Darla who was evil at first and Cordy who was good, except now, roles completely reversed, as signified by the not so subtle black/white dichotomy of the clothing.
Must think more about all this mass of information that was just dumped on us.
