Well I'm working my way through season two of Buffy... so here are some thoughts on Passion.
Ouch. Just... ouch. Definitely have a new favorite for season two so far, and am really starting to see why everyone says such good things about it. I mean, I thought Surprise and Innocence were definitely good, as were other episodes, but this one hit me the hardest so far. I felt so bad for Giles. I can definitely see the Angel-hatred of Xander now. Angelus is a real bastard, with the entire setup and everything. The funny thing is, I thought Angelus was so awesome in Soulless, but here? He's just a bastard. I can't believe Buffy got back together with Angel after that.
Which is strange, since I'm still a Buffy/Spike fan, but I think that's probably because I've never really seen Spike hurt any of Buffy's friends or Buffy that badly, unlike Angelus. Even though I'm sure Spike would have done something that bad before, it's never shown on screen happening to any of the characters I care about, so it doens't affect me that much. Funny, eh? Now all the board comments on the evilness of Spike and the badness of the relationship is a whole lot clearer. And especially with Spike, I don't believe the whole Angel is an entirely different person from Angelus. Because Spike with a soul? Not that different from Spike without a soul. And just the fact that Spike actively went to search for a soul makes such a big difference. But uh yeah. I think Passions just ruined any chance of my jumping on the B/A bandwagon, especially since I was never that attracted to the pairing to begin with.
And well, just. Guh. That was a painful episode.
