Wow, lots of stuff! And I love how Keith finds out about the scam and is very competent. Keith is very cool.
And oh, I felt so bad for Veronica watching Meg and Duncan dancing, trying so hard to feel good for Meg but not really succeeding. And despite Leo being there, Veronica still looks so hurt.
Ok, I actually felt bad for Logan this episode, especially when he wordlessly sat himself down in the hotel lobby, determined not to leave. However, Alyson Hannigan as his sister makes my brain explode from universes crossing, because she still looks like Willow! Help! Shows colliding!
On the other hand, I still think all the abuse by father thing is a little eye-rolling. I mean, the show does it very well, but I am a bit sick of people being abused by their dads in their childhood and growing up to be alpha bastards and being sweet woobies on the inside. I read too many romance novels. But yeah... rotten childhoods may make bastard-ness much more understandable, but it's still bastard-ness.
Anyhow, when he finds out finally that all the leads he's been following have just been his sister, when that last possibility has been taken away, owwww. Poor kid. And Veronica looks so unsure of what to do or how to deal with jackass Logan totally breaking down.
1x16 Betty and Veronica
So this was actually the first VMars ep I ever watched, since Tivo randomly Tivoed it for me. When I first watched it, I thought it was rather boring.
It hit really hard this time round. Just... Veronica finally finding her mom again, only to have even more hurtful things said, even though Liane kept trying to shield her. Finding that her room had been bugged by Clarence Weidman (sp?). And oh, the poor girl, watching Duncan and Meg, possibly the only two popular people at Neptune High that she still sort of likes.
And after Wallace feeling left out last week, the scene where he discovers that she's the one baking him spirit boxes is so wonderful. I adore Veronica so very, very much. And Wallace, of course.
And when we find out that Veronica has used her college money for rehab for her mom --- owwwww. I so *heart* her. I mean, this is reaching Buffy and Scully levels of *heart*-ing.
It's just how she doesn't know how to deal with Meg and Duncan, how she can't talk to Meg much, and then having Logan find her files. But she still goes and does her thing and snarks and outsmarts people.
1x17 Kane's and Abel's
Even more pain! By the time I finished watching this ep., it was 12:30 and I really needed to go to bed, but all I wanted to do was watch the rest of the series. Wah!
I very much liked the quiet moment between Veronica and Logan, when Logan admits to Duncan's strange behavior and his not being snarky, for once. I keep forgetting that they did used to run in the same crowd before -- it's easy to remember with Lilly and Duncan, but the Veronica-Logan relationship feels so antagonistic that I forget they used to hang out together often.
Clarence Weidman is scary.
I was actually into the A-plot for this ep., and I felt really bad for Hamilton. Yay more class issues! And yay for Asians on screen! I like how Veronica does find herself on the wrong side at times.
I'm still a little puzzled as to the Lilly-Veronica friendship. I think I'm projecting my own issues, but Lilly seems to be a high-maintenance type friend. I suppose part of that would be the charm, though. So now that Duncan seems to be the obvious solution, I'm guessing he's not?
And oh, oh, oh, how I love that Keith finds out and figures that it's really no use keeping Veronica away and that the best way to protect her is to make sure she's as well-armed as possible with information. I love that he pulls her off the floor after Amelia runs off and cracks open the safe and gives her the files. Wah! I adore the Mars family!
