Veronica Mars 1x02-1x03

I like Weevil. I have an irrational dislike of Logan currently. I'm not quite sure why I imprinted on Veronica so quickly, but she is now prey to the same "Don't hurt her you ass!" reaction that Buffy gets. Not that she can't take care of herself; she can, and she is wonderfully and amusingly good at it, and I love her for that, but I still want to hit people who are mean to her. Particularly Sheriff-dude and Logan. Grrrrrr.
Also, dude, class issues! Latino characters in SoCal! This makes me so extremely happy.
I also like how the case sort of shadows the deepening mystery of Lily Kane's death, including the pointed question of, if someone has already confessed and is in jail, why is Veronica still investigating?
Alas, I do not feel sorry for Logan and his cheating Paris Hilton girlfriend. So everyone is mad at Veronica because she stands by her dad, but there is no problem with Logan's new girlfriend? I guess it has been nine months or so, but I would guess that Duncan would feel rather weird about that.
I continue to adore Wallace.
1x03 Meet John Smith
Yay, parental issues! I think I watched all the episodes too quickly, because they're slightly running together in my head. The guidance counselor thing was rather awkward, but I continue to adore Keith Mars. I have also decided that I am tentatively liking Troy (but if he hurts Veronica, he is on my hit list). And I like the inside look at the Kane family (families everywhere!), along with Duncan being depressed.
Heh, I was yelling at the screen: "Take your meds!" I am glad he decided to in the end. And the Lily vision was extremely creepy. I do sort of like Duncan. I have no idea why he broke up with Veronica, but seeing him now, it makes a bit of sense that he would succumb from pressure from his mother. I do not envy the Kanes. That looks like such a poisonous household to grow up in, ugh.
So far this show is doing an extraordinarily good job of having mini-mysteries-of-the-week that tie in very well with the larger plot, so much so that the episodes start to blend together in my head. It feels continuous in the best of ways, and I really like the characters. Well, I like Veronica and Keith and Weevil and Wallace. I am not so happy with the 09ers, but somehow I'm guessing that that is the point. I especially like Wallace, who probably completely won me over in the pilot with his "marshmallow Veronica" lines. And he just seems a good, solid guy. I feel those are hard to find, especially when the angsty guys of TV get all the spotlight.
