X-Files 1x01 Pilot

To put this into context: X-Files was my first fandom. I had liked the internet before XF, but XF gave me a reason to obsessively stay online. I discovered shipping and slash and fanfic and mailing lists and fandom in general with XF. And while I was a silent fandom participator (GWing was the first fandom I was active in), I read. Wooo boy did I read. I even got one of my friends into fanfic ^_^. I was a complete shipper, all the works. I also have only seen bits and pieces of S3, most of S4 and most of S5, given that I was living in Taiwan at the time, there was no such thing as TV on DVD (or DVD, actually), and no episode downloads. It aired in Taiwan, I tried to watch what I could, and I watched all the reruns possible during summer vacations in CA.
And on to the pilot, which I had never seen before: It's so funny! Not really, but I've read about it so many times in fanfic that it feels familiar. Yet, Scully is so much more girlish than I remember her being, and both of them look so young! Plus, it's starting to show age and looks very much like it was made in the early nineties. I squeed over pretty much everything, from the govt. issue Taurus to the unruly locals to the first appearance of CSM. And I can't get over how innocent and nice Scully was! Mulder of course was a bit more prickly, but Scully believed in things like her government and science, things that were slowly stripped away later. I thought prickly Mulder who believed Scully was a spy was really cute too. In fact, I thought the whole thing was cute. And I remember why I used to ship them, because of that trust and the idea that here was someone who would listen.
