1. If you had to choose an alias, what would it be?

Um. I like my name. But it would probably be something that sounds very American, like Jill.

2. Where were you on 9/11?

Getting a cell phone. I kid you not. That was the only reason I didn't sleep through it. My friend told me about the plane crash when we met up, and the entire time, we listened to the radio with the guy selling us cell phones.

3. What is your ideal vacation?

The vacation I always have -- plenty of time to read and reread books, time to write, time to cross-stitch and lots and lots of good weather in California.

4. How many first cousins do you have?

Four on my dad's side and six on my mom's.

5. How do you take your pizza?

Thin crust! Yum. Recently I have become addicted to thin crust cheese pizza, but normally I like everything on it. I also like pesto pizza. And pizza with tuna and corn. It's good! Really!

6. If you could be fluent in any foreign language (that you are not already) what would it be?

Korean. Because then I would know how to pronounce the menu in Korean restaurants, which is of truly vital importance. And I already know Chinese and Japanese, and I want to have fully earned my East Asian studies degree. Other than that, Italian, because it sounds so beautiful.

7. What is your favorite website?

LJ, Salon.com, and Amazon.

8. If you could experience another era of history, which would it be?

Either 1920s America or Meiji Japan. I desperately want to be a flapper and be outrageous and daring. And I want to see Meiji Japan from an academic point of view and because I think it's absolutely fascinating how Japan managed to completely revolutionize the country in about twenty five years. I like eras of change.

9. What is your favorite genre of movies?

Happy movies. Not necessarily happy endings, but movies that make me smile just thinking about them. For me, mostly this means animated movies (Chicken Run! Nightmare Before Christmas!) or musicals (Moulin Rouge! Singin' in the Rain!).

10. If you could have any one superpower, what would it be?

Reading people's auras. Enough information to help, but not too scary, like telepathy.

11. Can you whistle?

Very loudly.

12. If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be?

A hawk. I want to be able to fly.

13. Who is your favorite fictional character?

Um. Right now? Probably Wesley from AtS.

14. Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars, because I've never watched any of the versions of Star Trek.

15. What is your favorite beverage?

Fresh juice of any kind.

16. What brand of toothpaste do you use?

Colgate.

17. What is your favorite professional sports team?

Er. I don't do the whole sports thing.

18. Are you "indoorsy" or "outdoorsy"?

Indoorsy. To the extreme.

19. What is your earliest childhood memory?

Owning a large pink balloon. From photos, I place this to be around two years old, right before my sister was born, at the zoo.

20. If you could play any musical instrument, what would it be?

I already play the piano and I think it's boring. I'd rather play something stringed, like the violin or cello.

21. What's your favorite accent?

Probably British of all kinds, thanks to the infusion of sexy British people on Buffy.

22. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I think my ambition as a kid was to never grow up... Still trying!

23. Are you a dog person or a cat person?

I used to think I was a dog person, but then I met the cats of S.'s house! I love them both, but am more fascinated by cats right now because I've never grown up with them. Stupid allergies.

24. If they were making a movie or TV show of your life, who would you choose to play you?

No one would ever make a movie or TV show of my life.

25. What is your favorite element (earth, fire, water or air)?

Water, thanks to tarot associations, although I'm probably more like air.

26. If you could compete in any event in the Olympics (summer or winter) what would it be?

I don't think I would ever do the whole professional sports thing. How about a marathon reading competition? Or speed reading?

27. What is your favorite Sunday comic strip?

Calvin and Hobbes, closely followed by the Far Side.

28. What kind of music do you listen to?

Extremely eclectic. Irish punk, sappy Chinese love songs, classic rock, and bouncy songs.

29. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

Um... I think right now it's Honey Nut Bunches of Oats or whatever it's called.

30. What is your worst habit?

Sticking pages under my fingernails (weird, but true).
