My battle with Verizon continues. Checked on my bill today and it is twice the amount it should be! And due tomorrow. Plus, last time I paid the bill, it was also twice the amount. And I paid it, because it seemed as though the payment was for two months! But now they're charging me again! What the fuck is going on? And I don't even think I can change providers because of who knows how the phone system works. Argh. And I can't just cancel my number and use my cell because my reception sucks. I hate the American phone service right now.

Telephone companies are evil. Last month, I made only local calls... so no surprises on the bill right? So I'm expecting a bill for $10.50... Well that's what I got, plus $5.00 "you can make out of state calls if you want" fee, plus $1.50 Federal Tax, plus $1.00 State Tax, plus $0.50 Local Tax, plus $1.00 "poor people need phones, too" tax, plus $0.50 "if you move, we'll let you keep your number" fee... and on and on until my bill balooned to $25 (not including my DSL, with that it was $60). No long distance phone calls, no directory assistance, no 976 numbers, but bill is still double what they said it would be when I signed up for service.

If you use one of those 1010-whatever numbers to make long distance calls, you don't even need to sign up for long distance service. That's what we do for international calls, instead of paying $5/month for the "privilege" of calling Sweden at 25cents per minute, we route our calls through a 1010 service and pay 12cents/minute. We did sign up for local long distance service with the phone company, cause they said it would be a flat 5cents per minute, but they forgot to mention the $5 "accessing" fee. So I'm thinking we'll just drop all long distance service all together and shop around for different 1010 numbers.
