So randomly downloading songs on Kazaa, I find there's this band called Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and they do punk covers of oldies and showtunes and the like. They're absolutely hilarious! It's just loud and bouncy with guitar riffs and lyrics I already know... kind of like the Ramones' My Way in Lovers Walk. This is awesome.

. . . how big is the file? (I've never Kazaaed. Not that I'm suborning you into defying the will of the RIAA or anything, but you can FTP, and I can FTP and I have various email addresses and I'll stop begging now.)

And, in order to get into your good graces, here's my witless picayune correction of the day! Sid Vicious did the punk cover of "My Way," though I believe the version in "Lovers Walk" is actually Gary Oldman on the Sid and Nancy soundtrack. The Ramones, however, did record a number of loud, bouncy covers of early '60s rock & roll: "California Sun," "Needles and Pins" and "Do You Wanna Dance" come to mind. ("Let's Dance" and "Surfin' Bird" come to mind only after I look at the CD covers.) All, especially "California Sun," are highly recommended. Not that I'm suggesting anything incriminating, but I learned to FTP today!
