*points to subject* I bet those are two words you never expected to see together on my LJ ;).

But yes.... squigglesquiggleYAYsquee!!!!! OLYMPICS!!!!

Predictions:

1. Evgeny Plushenko will win, or else I will yell at the TV an awful lot.

2. Johnny Weir and Brian Joubert will have horrible costumes.

3. I will yell at the commentators all the time.

4. I will have the same not-very-deep thoughts about nationalism and country pride and competition that I do every time I watch the Olympics.

5. I will either cheer loudly when "Taipei China" enters while yelling at China about the name change, or pout when Taiwan isn't in the Olympics, despite fully realizing that it is a subtropical island and probably doesn't participate much in winter sports at all.

6. I will cheer for the Chinese ice skaters and then feel bad for cheering for China and then feel worse for thinking nationalistically.

7. I will find random sports that I didn't know existed (biathlon?).

8. I will get caught up in totally random sports that I usually care nothing about, just because.

9. I will cheer for all the underdog countries. (Sadly, my brain just collapsed on me and I forgot the word "underdog." I knew it was "under-animal," but kept defaulting to "underduck" for some odd reason. Possibly I was inspired by the dead duck wine bottle holder that my dad has.)

10. I am entirely too fond of numbered lists.

And dude, if Kwan wins, I will cry, but it will be Sasha. :(

Awww, hey, don't be dissing my girl Sasha....I really, really don't think she's going to win, tho, or maybe even medal. The European field looks v strong, the American field did pretty terribly at our national championships and Slutskaya is like a Panzer tank at this point. She's just going to mow everyone down. -- I wouldn't be surprised if the Russians sweep all four skating categories, actually....I bet it'll go Slutskaya-Kwan-Other-Cohen, or maybe Slutskaya-Other-Kwan-Cohen.

Yeah, she does tend to pull ahead in the short and then blow it in the long, altho she was steadier this year. Then again esp at the Nationals the field was pretty weak and there was no Michelle. I think Slutskaya's going to stomp everyone.

1. short-track speed skating. Like Roller Derby, except cold.

2. curling. It is the most bizarrely mesmerizing sport in the galaxy.

Hee, curling is the other major winter sport here in Canada. I remember curling when I was in high school. Dude, those curling rocks are heavy!
I giggle hysterically when the skip starts yelling at the sweepers..where else will you here the words "Hurry, hurry hard!" yelled at the Olympics?
Curling is a strange game.

Short-track speed skating is FRELLING AWESOME. I have loved speed skating ever since Dan Janssen.

I'll be cheering for Canada, but it's always hard to actually see any Canadians compete. It's sort of irritating how the networks just will not show events if there aren't any Americans competing in it.

Yes! I saw that too! I did manage to catch some of the pairs short program. I guess the Chinese have a great chance in getting a medal there. The top standings are pretty much Russian and Chinese. Kinda makes you wonder if any of the other countries should even show up? :)

Hope your day is grand!
