Tue, Aug. 30th, 2005 02:35 pmDum de dum, meme!
1. Reply with your name and I'll respond with something random about you
2. I'll tell you what song/movie/tv show reminds me of you
3. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me
4. I'll tell you my first significant memory of you
5. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of
6. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you
Aka, I am bored at work.

3. Kids reading LJ ;).
4. Hrm. I'm not sure actually... I think probably from the very first few months I was on LJ?
5. Eh. Ok, this is hard. A robin or other cheerful bird.

Ooo, reciprocation is always welcome ^_^.

Tue, Aug. 30th, 2005 04:33 pm (UTC)2. Fruits Basket, a) because you sent it to me and b) because you seem like the type of person who would live in it. Uh. I meant the niceness part, not the turning-into-a-zodiac-animal part.
3. Anne Bishop cavemen.
4. Being really scared that you'd be mad at me because I borrowed the third Prydain book from C. who borrowed it from you and ended up either losing it and dropping it in the bathtub.
5. Wombats!
6. Eh, stupid question, but are you still living in Hsinchu? Or Taipei now?

3. Dogs sleeping in rat piles.
4. AtPO and reading your amazing "I didn't like 'Him'" post. Actually, I do remember your other posts, but that one in particular stuck in my mind ;).
5. A big, huggy teddy bear.
6. Ooo, are you still working with the group who put on "Into the Woods"?

Tue, Aug. 30th, 2005 04:49 pm (UTC)Wow, really? My job is done! And thanks. I will be doing another baking in the next few weeks so stay tuned!
I have tried to exactly remember how I stumbled upon it. We purchased our computer in Fall 2001 and I think it was in early to mid '02 when I was watching Buffy more regularly and just had to find out more about it. Discuss it. I found Masq's site (a yahoo link is what we decided it must have been) and loved reading through that. But internet unsavvy I was, so I didn't click on the discussion board for some time. After that there was no turning back. I lurked for a very long time, but eventually posted.

Tue, Aug. 30th, 2005 05:39 pm (UTC)2. Utena, just for the meta, fairy tales, gender-bending, on crack goodness.
3. Manga scholarship is also on crack. But fun anyway!
4. You were still Melymbrosia and running
5. Stitch! Er, not an animal per se, but... cute, fuzzy blue alien?
6. Um, sort of awkward question, but what do you do at work? (understandable if you don't want to answer)

Tue, Aug. 30th, 2005 05:41 pm (UTC)BTW I posted a version of this meme to my journal a few weeks ago. No responses, which may be a Good Thing. Although in your case I can at least come up with an animal.

(no subject)
Wed, Aug. 31st, 2005 11:44 am (UTC)How'd I start drawing? Not entirely sure - it's sort of always been there. I remember taking art classes when I was ten. In highschool, I thought I was going to be a professional artist, and entered undergrad as an art major. After the first semester, I ran screaming for Anthropology after I realized I hated everybody in the art department. I did some costuming, web design, and photography over the next few years, but didn't get back into art itself until I, er, obtained Photoshop 2 and started experimenting with blends and things. Put them into a local con's art show, sold some, realized I could actually do this sort of thing and get paid for it, drew a short comic for a newsletter than morphed into a webcomic, started taking figure drawing classes, moved to Dallas and bought a graphic tablet, and have been doing this stuff ever since.
And there you have it. My ENTIRE EVOLUTION as an artist. XD

4. Your post on the niftiness of two and being glad you were posting in LJ, and then meeting you in Starbucks and hoping you didn't think my long jean skirt was weird.
5. No animals, actually, because you don't seem to be much of a pet person. Except rats. Which is good ;).
6. Um. How'd your family end up with a place in Canada?

Wed, Aug. 31st, 2005 01:11 pm (UTC)I ended up lurking on the board for ages but never really emerging until LJ.

Thu, Sep. 1st, 2005 07:15 am (UTC)I really enjoying working for the Company, (that sounds like I was a CIA agent) right up to the point when I achieved my big ambition and did a lateral transfer from development (ie, reading fantasy and kids' books and writing reports on them) to being a staff writer on a TV show ("The Fearing Mind') and discovered that being a staff writer kind of sucks. However, I have recently returned to pitching stuff to them again, because i think being a show creator would not suck at all.
There is a twelve-foot Kermit doffing his cap over the front gate, a sleazy strip bar across the street, and much cool memorabilia inside. Small pets are allowed on the premises, and a couple people take their chihuahuas to work.

Thu, Sep. 1st, 2005 08:42 am (UTC)2. Everybody says LotR which, awkwardly, I haven't read/seen.

6. I'm not sure. I read something when I was a teenager, then later a few other things ... language construction didn't become a real obsession until a few years ago.

Thu, Sep. 1st, 2005 08:51 am (UTC)I'm irritated because I have the Dar Williams cover and the Fountains of Wayne cover of "Better Things," but not the original! But yeah, I really love that song, thanks for introducing me to it!
