[livejournal.com profile] hermionesviolin, I got the books! Thank you!

Wargh. I found a non-BPAL perfume I like: Clean. I only tried the signature line and none of the spin-offs, but whoo! Lemony! Of course, this means it is crazy expensive!

More jittery than usual today, thanks to the Paxil. It's a side effect, but not one that bugs me that much, because I usually am jittery anyway. Of course, I don't help this by drinking coffee!

I want to watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith again (and again and again) because female assassin with gun never fails to please me. I am so easy. Definitely a DVD movie, not because of inherent quality, but because of the sheer joy derived in seeing things blow up. Also, Brad Pitt being funny! And have I mentioned Angelina Jolie as an assassin? Guh. Want more movies with female assassins/spies/thieves!

And I am happy because I got to play a fun new card game today! Fluxx is very weird but very cool because the rules and goals keep changing. I adore the fact that I have people to play games with me now.

Also, I am caffeinated, it is Friday, I am eating dinner with an auntie and probably seeing friends on the weekend and maybe even playing mahjong, and as such, I am insanely cheerful and bouncy.

*bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce*

I am now crocheting a lap blanket! My sister's friend gave me her leftover yarn (three skeins!), so I am crocheting them a blanket for their NY apartment. It's fun! So odd though, having just one live stitch. I suspect I'm getting a funny groove in my finger from the crochet hook though.

I also finished the heavy knitting portion of the hooded sweater of doom! Unfortunately, this means I still have to seam the entire thing, make little pockets (mom's request), crochet on a border and sew buttons. Alas, I finished it during the heat spell last week, and let me tell you, that is not the time one wants to have a giant winter sweater in one's lap! Also, seaming bores me.

So I started me new knitting project! Cotton tank tops galore for the summer! Current pattern is Sexie from S&B Nation, except with cotton instead of stretchy ribbon, so I worry that it will be too small. Oh well. I also want to modify the pattern so I can use my newly learned tubular cast-on skill, as said cast-on only seems to look good with 1x1 ribbing and the pattern has 2x2 ribbing. Since it's only a few rows, I might just change it to 1x1. Must think. Probably need to study the pattern a little bit more to see how it is. I am irritated, though, because I've already spent several hours just doing the tubular cast-on and knitting a few rows already. Oh well. I just figured out yesterday that I have enough yarn to do the next size up, which is good, and I've already made some mistakes in the previous rows, so I think I'll just frog the whole thing and start again.

Man, I love reading patterns! I am such a dork ;). I've got to crochet myself a hat!

I was sort of scared I'd lose interest in knitting because I have a magpie mind and collect hobbies at the drop of a hat. And I hadn't gone to a knitting group for a while because of the busy-ness surrounding the family visit. But I went this week, and it was of the good, and now I am all interested again!

ETA: I need a knitting/crocheting/yarn-is-my-friend icon. Must investigate this.

Ooooh, I LOOOOVED Mr. and Mrs. Smith. So much better than I thought it was gonna be. So, so much fun. And nothing is cooler than Angelina Jolie holding really big guns.

Yay, Fluxx! I'm a big fan of all the LooneyLabs games we've played - Fluxx, Aquarius, Chrononauts, as well as Zendo and some of the other Icehouse-based games. And what's not to like about a company run by a bunch of polyamorous, pro-cannabis, hippie gamers? (Okay, as a person of short hair, their fondness/fetish for long hair gets a big shrug and "yeah, whatever" from me...)

I forget where I read it, but there was a piece of knitting advice about frogging that helped reframe it for me. The writer pointed out, "Okay, so if you hadn't had to rip, what would have been the first thing you did after finishing the piece? Find something more to knit, right? So now you've got more to knit, without even starting a new project!" Heh.

Fluxx rocks. :-)

Lunch Money (I don't know the company) amuses me greatly, but is, ah, brutal/black humor in premise.

Are you familiar with Cheapass Games? They rock.

I think Paxil is somewhat like Prozac in that they can make people a little jittery/jumpy, yeah -- when I was on Prozac I used to refer to it as the bzzzt effect. Unfortunately this is not so good for someone with anxiety/panic disorder, so I got switched to Zoloft.

It's good you sound so cheerful! that's v heartening.

If you are not prone to anxiety attacks, maybe, or at any rate not prone to them any more, the bzzt-quality of some SSRIs might not bother you -- I didn't start having anxiety/panic attacks til I'd been on Prozac a long long time, and got shifted to Zoloft to deal with the anxiety attacks on their own more than getting off Prozac to deal with them that way, if that makes sense.

ingrained advice from my mom makes me continually think that sleeping a lot and not having energy and not being able to do things means I am lazy

Oh yes, that's my dad. "You'd feel much better if you just got out of bed and into that nice sunshine outside!"

When I was taking Prozac, I had to cut my caffeine intake in half for that very reason. I just made my coffee with half a scoop of regular and half a scoop of decaf.

When I went off Prozac I was all, "Yes! Now I can drink all the caffeine that I want! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!"

...I'm alternating taking stuff out of boxes and putting it away, frequently in a cupboard as a placeholder for the bookcases I don't have yet, so I can get the damn boxes off my floor and have room to install furniture, with poking around LJ when I get too tired to continue. I think I'm suffering from cumulative exhaustion. Maybe I should see Batman Begins tonight.

Have you seen or read Fullmetal Alchemist? I seem to have some extra figurines.

I suspect I'm getting a funny groove in my finger from the crochet hook though.

I noticed last night that I'm getting a callus on the side of my thumb from knitting. :)

On the sweater front, check this out. So cute! I expect the pattern is way too hard for me, but I might have to order it and try it anyway.

(Hey, I need a knitting icon too. Cats and roses just don't seem to do it.)

I've never played fluxx, but it looks like so much fun! I saw these other poeple playing and it was so so hard to follow. I want to play! ;P
