Sat, Jan. 22nd, 2005 02:36 pmYay, my sister is here!
The rather unfortunate bit is that she is still here -- not because I don't like having her here, but because her flight has been cancelled thanks to the massive snow. I've been very out of it lately. I didn't even know until we got to the airport.
Yesterday at work was pretty insane. We had this big project due on Monday, which we're supposed to have done on Friday, except the server crashed. Yes. Not so good. So I stayed on an extra two and half hours while my poor sister sat at home by herself watching ice skating, heh. Staying on the extra hours was a bit lousy, largely because my sister was here, but it was also ok because I really like the group of people I work with. So I haven't been keeping up that much with LJ the past two days or so, because I've been trying to entertain my sister. It's funny -- if I had been on LJ, I woudl have known about the giant storms through my FL, and then gone to check out the story on the NYTimes or something. Yes, I do actually get most of my news through the FL. I go read the articles afterward, but I've just never gotten in the habit of checking the newspapers every day -_-;;.
So, I feel rather bad, but the praise meme is going to be delayed a little. Plus, I want to actually sit down and take time and think about them, instead of jotting some off, because you are all quite cool people indeed and deserve it.
But it was quite fun. My sister bought so many clothes back at home! I got a few too ^_^. Actually, it's sort of funny having my sister visit. Usually when friends visit I feel very compelled to be entertaining and not spend oodles of time on my computer. But every time my sister comes here, if you just sit her down with the extra laptop (with internet of course) and a book and maybe Tivo, she will just stay there for hours and get a little grumpy if you drag her out to eat. Rather like me, actually. I am very subject to inertia. And then we went and played mahjong with
fannishly, who knows all these different ways to play that I don't! It was quite, quite cool, though I felt rather bad about just dragging my sister and the boy over to her apt.
