Thu, Nov. 11th, 2004 09:38 pmWeird things: So Gmail has those ads at the bottom of email messages that pick up keywords and tries to target ads. For all the comments on the rat pics, I keep getting ads for rat exterminators. Erm, yeah. Not so much.
And I got more instant Indian food from Safeway (I'm still so amused! My Safeway has instant Indian food! So cool!), which I can cook with my instant rice. Hee, I'm so lazy in the kitchen. And we used the boy's nifty Stanford coupons to get a free entree at the Indian restaurant nearby. I was so nice and didn't order palak paneer, even though I love palak paneer (mmmm spinach), because the boy is strange and doesn't like it =(. But I got some instant palak paneer for myself.
Then we went to the bookstore -- it's now becoming a habit to go every Thursday or so, because that's when the New This Week carts get restocked. It's nice being a former employee and knowing all this stuff. And! I found a signed copy of Jonathan Strange!! Ok, so I already have a copy. But I got it anyway, even though I already have one. It was signed! And I got my discount, heh. I think it depends on the cashier. Not that I'm complaining. Got Anna of Byzantium and Imagined Communities as well. My stack of non-fiction is quite alarming now.
And! My company is offering discounted tickets to the Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco! And
double_helix and Alex are going! And dressing up! OMG SO COOL! Lalala, dressing up! So, er, does anyone know any good thrift shops around South Bay/Peninsula in which I could pick up assorted Victorian-looking things?

Thu, Nov. 11th, 2004 11:51 pm (UTC)Cool! I want to read that book so badly!! I've heard such amazing things, including that Neil Gaiman considers it the best fantasy novel of the last 70 years. I mean, come on! I need that!
I was only going to get Fables this week, but I might sneak out of the store with that one, too. I really have to be careful with money, though, since Buffy S7's coming out Tuesday, not to mention the third season of Smallville, which I'll probably have to hold off on until the next week.
(And I'm not even thinking about the speeding ticket I got last week. My first one ever...Waaaah!)

Fri, Nov. 12th, 2004 07:12 am (UTC)And I'll pay you back for the shipping costs, of course. If you want to e-mail me at robwill@optonline.net, I can send you my addy (I dimly recall having your e-mail in the past, but if I did, I lost it when my HD was wiped out by those evil Apple people).
And thanks again!!!

Fri, Nov. 12th, 2004 06:57 am (UTC)Try the Laura McClintock store in S. San Francisco for cheap large skirts. Selection varies in the huge discount clothing area on the right as you go in the door. They also often sell bodices as separates. Add some poofy sleeves/a high neck buttoned up shirt and your set.
For cheap hoop skirts, try the Haight. There are a couple of fabric places that sell them there.
Or for an all in one, buy a wedding dress from a thrift store and dye it. Thrift stores are great places to go cheap diving for costuming.
For futher suggestions try the Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild web site
