I really want to get my hands on this 2/28 manhua.

I don't actually know that much about the 2/28 massacre, partly due to being in a school with other kids who didn't grow up in Taiwan and probably a lot due to it still being a very taboo topic around the time. I have to see if I can find this whenever I manage to go back...

Hm. I find it interesting that the reviewer contrasts Taiwanese (presumably Han Taiwanese? no mention of bendiren) with the "poor, shabby" etc soldiers from China. My yeye was one of those soldiers, yet his son my father (with whom he always had warm relations; my father was The Good Child) hated the KMT with a passion far surpassing that of my mother, whose farming family had lived in southern Taiwan for generations.

OTOH yeye already changed his name and everything by the time he made it to Taiwan. Ex-soldiery is a different perspective.

Yeah, I thought that was interesting too, ditto the commentary on how the art makes the KMT people look bad. My parents and I are all waishenren, and I have no problem with the comic depicting the Han Chinese people and the KMT like that, given that there wasn't a big shortage of stuff lionizing the KMT until recently. (I suspect my parents, though, would hate it, they are very KMT.)
