Non-spoilery introduction

Spoil me for the rest and die!

I want to like Hee Jin, I really do! I generally try to like the two women in love triangles, because I feel they should always stop fighting and get together and beat up on the guy ("That's what I like about you," Mely said when I told her this). Alas, Hee Jin is firmly in the realm of the stupid. I mean... who comes back after three years of an unexplained absence and expects her ex to a) be happy to see her, b) not have a girlfriend, c) still be in love with her? This is, by the way, after no communication and after not even telling him why she left to live in America. Secondly, who in the world goes off unexpectedly for three years because she didn't want to tell her boyfriend she had CANCER?! Cancer with a 35% survival rate!

Oh kdrama. I feel this is not the last I have seen of you and wasting diseases. I am eagerly anticipating tragic coughing appearing in historical dramas.

Also not in Hee Jin's favor is the way she annoyingly keeps insisting that Jin Hun is hers to Sam Soon, because no! That is not how it works when you leave without an explanation for three years!

On the other hand, I do like her when she's with Henry because then at least she does something other than plead for Jin Hun to take her back. And they're funny. Some points off for Henry constantly telling her she's missing out on a good thing (him), but all in all, he is quite understanding. And he is Korean-American! Hee Jin's English is also pretty good; they have really cute dialogue in English.

Oh! Hee Jin and Jin Hun need to stop running after each other and missing each other or misunderstanding things every other minute. It is getting rather tiring, and quite honestly, I like Sam Soon and her non-tragic-ness way better.

And now that Hee Jin has finally explained to Jin Hun via making Henry step in because they were yelling so much, Jin Hun and Hee Jin are now being incredibly sappy and boring. I think Henry and Sam Soon should hook up. She could teach him French and he could teach her English.

I wish there were more likeable women in the series, but so far, not that many. While I am vastly amused by how President Na whaps her son on the head with a handbag, she is about to become the Obstacle to Keep Lovers Apart, I fear.

Oh! And Sam Soon's ex is a SKANK! I hate him! I want to bash him over the head! He is freaking engaged and still trying to get her back! Grrrrr.

I was vastly amused by Jin Hun's tragic backstory involving a dog and a car crash. Seriously! His brother and his sister-in-law die because he swerves to avoid a dog in the road! His brother's dead hand tragically and bloodily hangs in front of him as the car goes up in flame! And then he cries in Sam Soon's lap.

And I think Sam Soon should be fed many tasty pastries for dealing with all the crazy around her.

Well...there are about 15 jdramas to every kdrama it seems, so it's a lot easier to avoid "dying of cancer"
