Knitting and rat picture spam
Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 10:09 amBecause I am procrastinating and not writing up my 2006 books post, here is picture spam!
I ended up knitting a lot of small things in 2006, which was fun. Four pairs of fingerless gloves! A lot of scarves! I should probably remember to take more knitting pictures; I still don't have pictures of all my projects.
And then, of course, there are the obligatory rat photos. It's easier to take pictures of them, now that they aren't running around and trying to escape every ten seconds.

My first version of Fetching, knit in Noro Silk Garden, after having used most of the yarn for other gauntlets.

Two scarves and a headband! I just used a random Celtic knot pattern for the headband, and the blue scarf is done in Paton Soy Wool Stripes, made with a pattern from Scarf Style. I really like it because it's reversible. I'm still working on the brownish scarf, but the other two have gone out to their recipients!

My yarn stash. Um. Yeah.

Gauntlets I knit for my sister this week to match her lavender alpaca scarf.

A very boring baby blanket that I am making for a coworker. Except it's so boring! I may not finish it in time for it to still fit the baby.

A shirt that's been lying around forever, waiting for me to seam, weave in ends, pick up stitches for the armholes and collar, and block. Someday...

Another shirt that's been waiting forever for me to weave in ends and block. I also need to buy some pink ribbon to thread through the neckline.

The insane crochet cardigan. This is possibly half of the back. It will take me five years to finish this because I'm making it out of crochet thread, but... it's so pretty!

Ruki, with a supporting role by Renren's nose.

Oh, my lazy flat rats!

Ruki yawning and the other two being lazy.

Really flat rats in my lap!

Ruki, probably planning escape

Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 07:47 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, to add to the possible procrastinations, are you interested in getting together (virtually) and reigniting the cultural appropriation firestorm and writing up some of the books we have found particularly good or particularly infuriating? I can't remember if we discussed that TEMERAIRE novel in that light or not.

Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 08:46 pm (UTC)Are you still free this weekend? I've definitely got Saturday open, if you're still thinking of driving up, and possibly Sunday as well if that works better for you. Let me know! :)

Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 09:04 pm (UTC)I can comment on things that I found well-done more, actually, since the ones that aren't I've chucked against a wall and not finished.
Hrm. I will try and dredge up some examples.

Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 09:06 pm (UTC)I'm definitely still free! Saturday sounds like fun; what time are you thinking of? (I'm thinking I'll probably not be up early in the AM, given the sleep deprivation so far, but otherwise I am good.)
Also, I will bring knitting so we can knit and watch TV and I will burn you Honey and Clover because I love it so much!

Thu, Jan. 4th, 2007 09:12 pm (UTC)Any time on Saturday is perfectly fine by me. A. is working at 1 so it will be just us gals, I think. Just give me a call to let me know when you're coming up so I can maybe vacuum or something. ;)
Yay, knitting and anime! This sounds awesome.

Fri, Jan. 5th, 2007 01:27 am (UTC)The rats are SO ADORABLE now that they're mellowing out! They just flop around and sleep and express their rattie enthusiasm by bounding about!

Fri, Jan. 5th, 2007 01:33 am (UTC)Rats still tempt me. I really do plan to get some of my own sometime! (Although given how non-existent my time is at the moment, it's a good thing I didn't get any a couple months ago. ;_;)

Fri, Jan. 5th, 2007 04:01 am (UTC)You should get rats! They are awesome little pets, and I love them so much! The only bad thing is their lifespans, because they are so friendly and dorky and cute.
