Spoilers for all four eps below!

I really liked how the next few episodes were on the past catching up with the characters, or characters not being able to avoid their pasts anymore. There's Claus' attempt to get back into fighting, but with Lavie and Tatiana insisting that in the end, he's still a vanship pilot, not a fighter.

There's the appearance of Ralph's brother and the reminder of how Claus, Lavie and Al first met.

I made a note on Alex's past catching up with him as well, but I don't remember what I was thinking about. Maybe his past with his navi and the woman he loved? Maybe his history with Claus and Lavie's fathers?

Even Mullin can't escape the realization that maybe at the end, he's still a musketeer.

Claus and Lavie get to meet up with their old companions from the races.

Things feel like they're coming full circle for the characters, or full... uh, helix, to use Dinotopia's reference of history as a spiral (I'm sure that reference comes from other, more respectable, sources as well, but I can't think of them).

And then, of course, there's Sophia, whose past really catches up with her and ends up taking over. I totally wanted to yell at Alex for letting her go.

Oh well.

She is empress of the universe Anatoray (right?) now!

Also, she gets cool Tudor-esque clothes.

Her entire coronation scene and the rose petals and Dio going nuts was beautifully done. And of course, Dio's getting caught back up in what he was avoiding, which I guess is his sister. I love Al and how she baked a cake for him.

And for more past-catching-up stuff, they even flash back to the very first mission that started Claus and Lavie down this entire path.

Also also, the scene where they're finding the Exile via echolocation? Way cool.

And to finish, I have a completely random note: "Duke Mad-Thane should be named Macbeth, hahaha!"

The lettering is Greek, but most of it is transliterated English. For instance, the navigation panels have East, North, South, and West on them in English words but using Greek lettering (except that it isn't a direct phonetic match so it makes my head spin a bit). I thought it was very cool the way they named Mad-Thane's ship.
