oyceterSo. Apparently a ton of my old high school friends have Xangas (and apparently it's a big Asian thing in general too). Just goes to show how out of it I am with the Asian crowd. It's really strange reading them. I feel almost voyeuristic for some (mostly the guys) because wow! They talk about sex a lot. Not that that is bad in general, but most of them adopt a completely different voice around me. But that is probably because I was a prude back in high school or they just thought I was or something. So, learning a lot more. Weird. I wonder how I'd feel if my high school friends found my LJ? Probably very weirded out by the collision of my fandom interests and real life.
I got to see another old high school friend today. Luckily, it was one of those friends who I can just talk to even after years of not talking to each other. It's funny how alike we think on certain things. She used to be my lit/humanities/anti-techie/anti-finance/anti-almost everything practical buddy back in high school and pretty much still is! It's nice being able to mention pomo and meta in real life (instead of online) conversations without people thinking you're really really strange.
And why is everyone doing finance now? Is finance the new engineering of this decade? Either way, I still resent it. Probably even more than I resent all the tech people, because at least they make products I enjoy! Ugh. Yeah, so I'm biased, but last year's intern ibanking has convinced me that all ibankers at least are partially or all insane. Nothing's really swayed me of this notion yet...
