BPAL: Wrath and Severin

BPAL: A scent aflame with rage, swirling in the red haze of hatred: dragon's blood spiked with black pepper, clove, and cinnamon.
Imp: Actually, pre-imp! I'm pretty sure it's this imp that's making my entire shipment smell like cinnamon! Weird. Once I got the imp open, it actually smells a lot less cinnamon-y than I thought it would. It's vaguely fruity to my confused nose. Maybe that's the clove? Who knows. It's strange and full-bodied and not as spicy as I thought.
Wet: Whoo, cinnamon! Yup. That's pretty much it! Ok. Er. It's a very spicy cinnamon (maybe that's the pepper?).
Drydown: Hrm. It's starting to morph into that richer smell that I got from the imp and the cinnamon spiciness is fading away into something rounder, but still vaguely prickly around the edges. It smells rich. I also have no idea what the dragon's blood is supposed to smell like, so I can't pick it out. After a bit, the cinnamon comes back again. How odd. And now it's losing that fullness and turning into something slightly dry. I think the cinnamon smell is making me hungry!
I think it's an interesting smell and not bad, but it doesn't smell like me, somehow. Too dark and incense-y. Also, I'm getting a little tired of smelling like cinnamon. (Three hours later: Reeeeeeaaaaallly tired of smelling like cinnamon now! This one goes in the swap bin!) I would have never guessed that wrath would smell like cinnamon gum. It's vaguely disconcerting. Though
cychi says since the cinnamon scent is making me irritated, it is a fitting name after all!
Rat review: The rats got rather interested in it for a little, and I think both of them tried to eat it. The spiciness mixed very well with the rat-smell and accentuated their ratty muskiness.
Hee, ok, I couldn't type that with a straight face. Honestly, all I ended up with was a ratty cinnamon smell, which is just weird. For some reason, rat fur seems to really like holding on to smells. At least it doesn't smell as bizarrely weird as Chanel No. 5 a la Rat.
Severin
BPAL: Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, the Father of Masochism and sexual surrender, had planned on writing six volumes of erotic literature entitled The Heritage of Cain. Only the first two volumes were completed, the more famous of the two being the notorious Venus in Furs. This novel tells the tale of a man, Severin, that enters into a relationship of slavery and increasingly debauched degradation with his mistress, Wanda. Dry black teas, Earl Gray, and leather.
Imp: Lemon! Yay! Not the same sharp lemony goodness as Embalming Fluid, but lemon all the same.
Wet: Weird. It smells like lemon iced tea, I swear. Ok, I am liking this. It's got a little prickle to the back of it that's not the same as the calming aloe/green tea/white musk of Embalming Fluid. I guess that would be the Earl Gray! Or the other black teas, I suppose. The lemon has taken the back seat, but it's still there, faintly, mixed with tea.
Drydown: Damnit, it's only been a few minutes and it's already fading =(. Doh. I really like it too! Of course the nasty, overwhelming cinnamon lasts so long that I actually have to scrub it off with soap, whereas the nice smells just disappear.
It's so weird. It just keeps smelling like lemon iced tea. I have no idea where the lemon came from, and I have no idea where the leather scent is, but I got the tea at least! I really, really like this one. It's a little warmer smelling than Embalming Fluid, and a wee bit spicier (I suppose that's the leather), but it's got the same clean, calm lemon-ish smell. I think maybe my nose seriously doesn't pay attention to the names that BPAL gives these smells! This smells nice and fresh, like a summer afternoon on the porch with... iced tea (big surprise), not at all like the Father of Masochism and Sexual surrender, or debauched degradation. Oh well. I'm not complaining.
Rat review: I'm not even going to try to get Fitz-rat close enough to get it on him. Strangely enough, my rat and I apparently have the same taste in perfume. I held out my wrist to him for a second, and he totally lunged at it and tried to eat me, just like when I had Embalming Fluid on! Rats and perfume are weird, especially when mixed together.
