I've been having a slightly crazy week, which is why I've been ignoring my inbox -- midterms on Thursday, and then various social outings over the weekend. I almost forgot to make birthday plans in the midst of all the insanity! But I am treating to myself to a massage on Monday and possibly splurging on an umbrella swift and ball winder so I can finally wind yarn in the comfort of my own home. The craziness looks like it will just continue, as my mom is arriving next week and IBARW starts shortly after.
My copy of HP7 is on its way from the UK, and I'm in the midst of rereading HP6. I'd rather not be spoiled, but I'm not really doing anything differently on the internet, as most of my flist isn't in the HP fandom. I realized I was a little out of the loop when I refreshed on Friday night, completely confused that absolutely no activity was going on.
But! More important things are at hand! For the summer market is in full swing, and I, as usual, have bought too much. I swear, I went in with the intention to just get peas, corn, heirloom tomatoes, and a fruit tart. I walked out with peas, corn, heirloom tomatoes, two fruit tarts, strawberries, blackberries, peaches, and pluots.
Um. Oops?
This is also after I had gone to another market yesterday, in preparation for fooding and Firefly. It is a nice little market, but it is not my market. I sniffed a little as I realized there was only one vendor with heirlooms, and they only had pink brandywines. On the other hand, they were huge! When I took them out,
laurashapiro said, "The tomatoes are the size of my brain!" At least the amazing stone fruit vendor was there, and I made off with Dapple Dandy pluots (yellow-green and dappled skin, but with amazing ruby-red flesh), yellow Joanna Sweets and White Lady peaches. I'm glad I got the White Ladies; the vendor is at my market as well, but I think I got there too late and missed them today.
cofax7 made chess pie, which I swear is made out of just butter, flour and sugar, and is therefore absolutely amazing, and I ate a ton.
But oh! I am so spoiled, for I went to my market this morning as well! I was going to not get berries, really, because I still have two boxes of raspberries left over from yesterday and strawberries from last week, but I sampled a strawberry at my usual stand, and they are just so amazing and berry-ish that I had to get a little box. And I got a little box of blackberries too, after having some at Laura's and realizing I haven't had blackberries at all this summer.
And oh! The tomatoes! There were pineapple tomatoes, yellow with streaks of red on the inside; the wonderfully reliable black brandywines and green zebras; and little orange ones called oxharts, which I got a ton of after tasting.
