oyceter: (i cook)
1. Chickpea pancakes are really, really, really tasty.

2. Leaving yogurt sauce with approximately five finely chopped cloves of garlic in it to pickle and stew for two weeks results in a very, very spicy sauce. Yikes!

3. Note to self: next time you make yogurt sauce, salt the cucumbers and let them refrigerate first to draw out water so two-week-old yogurt sauce will not be extremely watery.

4. Pouring too much oil in the pan results in deep-fried chickpea pancakes. Not that this is a bad thing...

5. Chickpeas in general are a wonderful thing.

6. Food processors suck to clean.

7. Note to self: figure out how to make multi-grain bread. And crackers. And possibly falafel.

oyceter: Two of my rats in a tissue box (rat)
I just realized I have not posted many rat updates at all! I think a lot of it is because my primary rat photographer has been out for the past three weeks (aka, [livejournal.com profile] fannishly). I take many, many pictures of the rats, but I suck at it, so they are all blurry and out of focus.

So, if anyone was wondering, the rats are indeed still cute. They are also still fat and flat and fuzzy, and they lie on my lap and are great generators of heat, given their small size. I took them to the vet last week, since Fitz-rat is wheezing (again!) and Fool-rat needed his yearly check-up, and the vet was not my normal vet, but she was very nice and has ratties of her own and admired mine a great deal! She also said that hers was going on three years. Mine are two years old, but apparently they are doing quite well for two year old rats.

This makes me happy.

Knitting-wise, I am still trying to figure out a way to do a tubular cast-on for 2x2 rib. My current way only looks good with 1x1 rib. I think I may have found it in a book, but said book is $30, so I haven't gotten it yet. Sigh.

And since I am bored:

You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (examples: "5 Sexiest Things About Eliza Dushku" or "Top 5 things to drink"). Then, in a separate post, I'll post the answers to all your Top 5 ideas, according to me. Then you post this offer in your own journal.

Scrubs 3x01-3x22

I have finished Scrubs S3! I am filled with love for the show, although tempered a little, because I didn't like some of the season arcs. The show's basically been doing a sort of will-they-won't-they with JD and Elliott since day one, and it's finally gotten annoying. Before, it would just sort of be in the background, but this season, I felt that they wrote Elliott into situations just to angst JD and cause more tension. The final twist of the season had me totally rolling my eyes, and for the first time, I ended up really wanting to slap JD. And I love JD!

It got so bad that they even had meta jokes about Ross and Rachel of Friends.

Anyhow, I am officially irritated at the writers for pulling this on me, because one of the things that I had liked so much about the show was that they didn't really do much of a "Will they? Won't they? Let's just let stuff slip out during sweeps!" Thankfully, the other couples on the show are normal. And Turk and Carla continue to make me happy!

I didn't much like Carla before -- I didn't dislike her, but there wasn't really anything about her that grabbed me. But now I really like her. I think it was the moments of neuroticism, because all the other times she seemed so together and in charge, even when she was freaking out. I like seeing her silly side too. I am, however, sad that there wasn't quite as much silly-Elliott, thanks to the whole romantic interest thing. Sigh. They turned her from Elliott into The Girl!
