Just found the funniest community: [livejournal.com profile] customers_suck. Just goes to show how stupid people can be sometimes. I love bitching about customers because honestly, people can really do the dumbest things, and when you're in customer service, you're exposed to all of them. For instance:

I serve food/clear plates at my club. I am a member there, like everyone else who eats there. So one day, I'm clearing plates and this one table is still there talking. They're usually extremely annoying because they stay forever and usually don't clear their dishes, making extra work for us and extending the time we have to stay cleaning. Sometimes it gets to the point where we've cleaned and reset every table except theirs. And they're talking very loudly about sexual fetishes and who has an Asian fetish. I'm Chinese. Obviously, I look it. So it gets really disturbing when I'm just walking around the dining room clearning dishes and cleaning the tables and listening to each of them ask each other, "Oh, admit it, you download Asian porn all the time!" And while I'm walking past the table, one of the guys accidentally pushes his chair back into me and accidently brushes his hands around my chest region. He starts apologizing and giggling at the same time, as is the entire table. And I'm just thinking, "Ew ew ew ew ew." Some things I really just don't want to know about other people.

Other times I mealcheck... I make sure people don't sneak guests in without paying. We have a rule that Tuesday nights, which is better food, people have to sign up a day in advance to meal exchange, and there are only 15 spots. They can guest in however many people they want. And every single week on Tuesday, at least five people go by and bitch that the 15 spots have been taken up. They keep trying to "gently" push me to let them bring the other person in, despite the fact that in general it's always the same fricking people who forget to sign up!! It's not like this is a new policy. We've had this ever since I've been working here (3 years ago). And yet, they get all bitchy and pissy when I suggest that they guest their friends in or something. It's like they expect me to bend the rules for them every single time. What pisses me off the most is that it's always the SAME PEOPLE.

Then there was this time when this very strange guy who's always very impolite to me just sashays into the servery, where the food is served out onto plates. I'm standing there waiting for Sarah to finish a few plates so I can take them out, and he just comes in and starts staring at the food (in general, we highly discourage people from coming in and getting their own food because of the traffic and because we serve on a first come first serve basis). I ask him, "Can I help you?" and think, "What the hell is he doing here?" He completely ignores me. I ask him again. Then he reaches into the servery and takes out a baked potato with his fingers! My jaw drops and I'm completely floored. Then Snoopy sees him and asks if he can help. The guy says no, then sticks his head under the counter and directly into the food, looks carefully at all the slices of prime rib, and points one out. "I want this one," he says. Snoopy is really confused and gives it to him, and the guy just wanders back out. Not even a thank you. WTF?

Ugh. I swear, the members of Charter are stupid.

1. What drinking water do you prefer -- tap, bottle, purifier, etc.?

I usually drink out of Brita here, and at home, we boil our own water. Bottled water seems like a waste of money when you can filter it, and I refuse to drink tap water. I lived in Taiwan. I fear our water. I'm also not that accepting of NJ's.

2. What are your favorite flavor of chips?

Salt and vinegar. I love the moment when I open the bag and the vinegar hits. Yum.

3. Of all the things you can cook, what dish do you like the most?

I can cook very little... instant noodles?

4. How do you have your eggs?

I really hate eggs (especially when hung over!). Egg drops in soup?

5. Who was the last person who cooked you a meal? How did it turn out?

I think it was some family friends for Chinese New Year's, and it was quite good. I miss home-cooked Chinese food.
