Fri, Oct. 29th, 2004 05:15 pmWhoo! After drooling over
coffee_and_ink and
double_helix and assorted other people's sidebars for forever, I finally figured out how to stick my own in without having to resort to S2. S2 frustrates me because while it's a lot easier to customize it in some ways, outside of those boundaries, you can't do anything. So I lose all the random changes I've already made to the Generator style. But then, if you really want control in S2, you have to learn an entire new language, or so it seems, which feels like too much work for me. So I am still in good old S1 (but now with a sidebar!).
Alas, the holy grail of LJ style changes continues to elude me in S1 -- I still can't figure out how to have my icon show up on every post in the "recent" view. Grrr.
The new and improved lj isn't actually that new and improved, but I'm too lazy to think of a new color scheme. Besides, I'm still rather fond of this one. I did, however, make a new banner and then realize that I have a really stupid journal title. Hee. Oh well. Maybe the pretty font will distract people ;).
And I have a sidebar! Whoo!

Fri, Oct. 29th, 2004 06:47 pm (UTC)I'd recommend playing around with the S2 Variable Flow source code, since I found that very easy to modify, but that style hasn't implemented adding userpics to the recent view.

Sat, Oct. 30th, 2004 09:58 pm (UTC)Is it really very easy? I can't quite tell, and wading through all the documentation was starting to make my head hurt.
