Finally, NY!

Finally, I am in New York and fully conscious! My perpetual insomnia reared its ugly head again, meaning I didn't sleep during the red eye, but worse still was that some autopilot equipment broke and the fog in New York was so bad that they couldn't land without it. So we circled... and circled... and circled... and then ran out of gas. So we flew to Connecticut and landed there. And stayed there for two hours until the fog dissipated, then flew BACK to New York.

Then I decided given my complete lack of sleep and annoyed-ness about the flight delay meant I would splurge on a taxi instead of taking the subway. Unfortunately, I ended up with the most incompetent taxi driver ever, who did not know where [personal profile] coffeeandink's address was. This would not be the bad part, sadly. Since he could not figure it out, he made me call her, but when I handed over the phone, he did not know any of the landmarks she mentioned. I finally told him to forget it and drive me to the subway station nearest to the airport. He then got lost doing so and pulled over not once, but twice, to ask completely random bystanders how to get to the subway station. Then when I finally got off, it turned out it wasn't even the right station, but at least it was on the same line.

I do not expect taxi drivers to know every street in their city, but if they don't know where something is, I generally would think they would have a better strategy than to drive around in circles, make the customer call her friend, then ask random bystanders. Even I usually have a better strategy than that.

But! At least now I am with Mely and [personal profile] deepad!

I suspect that was not a very good taxi driver.

I see your travel luck still holds! Was that better or worse than the wrong booking the time-before-last we went to Taiwan, I wonder?

Good God! Well, clearly, the cop was your fault. I've seen them kick people back for doing that, but never actually ticket anyone.

The ants are certainly your fault too. If you're staying over, you should probably sleep with covers over your head. And don't look at the ceiling.
