Ruki died today, I think of a heart attack. Like his namesake (Rukia in Bleach), he was small and looked sweet and innocent, but he was actually crafty and devious and clever. He was Bya and Ren's annoying little (adopted?) brother, the one who kept trying to prove that he could wrestle them to the ground, even if Bya probably weighed twice as much he did. He was my escape artist rat, and I started playing with them in the bathtub instead of on the couch after he figured out how to slide down the couch and started doing it every five seconds. After a while, he discovered he could jump out of the bathtub and crawl down the laundry basket, which lead me on a few merry chases. He terrorized my yarn, despite everything in my stash being larger than he was, and he loved attention and would chitter loudly when pet. He was a most excellent rat, and I miss him lots already. The cage doesn't really feel the same without him.
