Heroes 1x15 Run!

I've been rather grumpy and stressed this week, so I think that's partially why I was a little grumpy with the episode.

For what may be the first time ever, I was also grumpy with Hiro. Hiro! I know in the end you were right, but Ando had some very good points, and you should respect his wishes sometimes too. I think the quest for the sword is boring me a little.

But I hope Ando turns out ok, because I like him and he and Hiro need to get back together and have a touching reunion.

I even got a little bored with Claire's story, though I sympathized with her a great deal. And I like that her birth mother isn't all rainbows and roses, but she's not evil either (unlike blonde Vegas woman). And oh, poor girl, listening outside with her heart in her eyes.

I loved the moment when she threw the rock at Nathan and then ran off; the entire scene was done really well, and it fit and felt real.

And oh, her mother, not recognizing Mr. Muggles! That hurt so much -- I think for Claire too. Hayden Panettiere really is very good. I can also see Claire being more hurt at her mother throwing things at Mr. Muggles that her mother forgetting her; being able to acknowledge but move past her own pain to sympathize with a dog who doesn't know what's going on.

I have to admit, Jessica is a whole lot more fun to watch than Niki. I think it is the lack of angst. Also, cool female assassin doesn't hurt.

I could have whapped Matt on the head for pocketing the diamonds. Why? You are a detective! What are you going to do with them? How are you possibly going to sell them? And being caught with them seems to be a million times worse than sucking up, tamping down your pride, and telling the officer in charge.

And Mohinder! You get something to do! That entire thing with Sylar was awesome, particularly the moments when Sylar really was enthusiastic and believed what he was saying. Duuuude.

On a more minor note, what can you do via melting toasters? Can that guy just take any solid object and render it into a pile of goop? Can he do it with human beings, or just metal? I guess Sylar can't do it with human beings, or at least not yet, else he probably would have melted poor Zane Taylor.

I am randomly hoping that Mohinder accidentally gets sucked down the path of evilness via his enthusiasm for special powers.

Must remember to dl next week's episode from Taiwan, yay! Cannot wait to see what will happen!

Oh, I feel you on this one. The episode was a tad in the way of lackluster considering what we've been fed thus far. I, too, LOVED the Claire window scene. That was very, very, very well played. All the way through to the rock. Awesome.

And while Sylar was busy melting things, I kept thinking, "but can you do that to a person!" How awfully awesome would that be!

I am *really* hoping that next week is good but I couldn't really tell -- thanks Windows Vista. I'd like to see Claire's father get his comeuppance becuase he is really not a good guy despite his love for his daughter. I am *so* not buying it.

I was meh on this episode too, though it did some interesting meta stuff that I will spam LJ with.

I was going to ask you plaintively if it was possible to dl in Taiwan!

Yes, I am. But please do yours as well, just in case.

Just did my obsessive write-up of the episode!

I think many of us just weren't feeling the Hiro love this week. I know part of my problem was rolling my eyes at the stripper girl. Y'know, there are women in Vegas who are not a) internet whores, b) evil showgirls/cocktain servers, or c) blue-haired gambling addicts. The stereotype is as tiring as assuming everyone in L.A. is an actor (or in the 'biz anyhow), a gang member or a surfer.

I agree with Jessica being way more interesting than Nikki.

I actually got a little of the grumpy feeling I remember from very late Buffy, where I was all, um, show, please don't set things up so that the hero's always right, okay? I really hope Ando ends up having been right in the long run, or rather, not right, but in possession of a unforeseen good outcome.

I am kind of assuming that at a crucial point Matt will pull out a diamond, with its many reflections, and use it to draw Nikki out and put Jessica in. He doesn't know this yet, of course, which gives him no excuse other than a sense that the world sucks and everyone is screwing him.

That's a neat thought. I was hoping for some more Matt interaction with Nikki/Jessica. Jessica seemed genuinely shocked that he had heard Nikki, he'd be in a unique position to mediate between the two of them, as long as Jessica didn't throw him off any more buildings.

There was a half-melted phone in a closeup, so I'm assuming he can melt anything meltable. (I'm betting that cotton and other flammable things are a big no, but we'll have to see.)
