Random thought of the day:

Whoa. I just realized Jean Ewing Ross' Illusion makes about ten times more sense now that I've read the Lymond Chronicles.

Wow. Talk about Dunnett influences.

Heh. Heh. Heh.

Other notably Dunnett-influenced romance novelists include Jo Beverley and ... damn, I've forgotten. I used to have a list. I suspect Tracy Grant. And if you think Illusion shows it, you should read her final traditional Regency, which is so Lymond-lite.

Emma Bull also has a character who is clearly a Lymond-pastiche in Bone Dance.

I have a post somewhere. I'll dig it up. Tanith Lee's Cyrion, too.

I don't think it's all vague in Freedom & Necessity.

I'm not sure the timing really works for Pope.

Oh yeah. Now you'll see 'em all over the place--beginning with Guy Kay and Diana Gabaldon, Ellen Kushner, and a raft of others.

Everybody's Lyyyyy-mond,
In his own wayyyy...
Like an angsty epicene
Or a control freak with dues to pay...
