OMG. I have been down with this stupid cold for a good week now, after trying to sleep it off Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and I am still tired and stuffed up and my throat hurts so much sometimes that I dread swallowing. I just want to run around flapping my hands at it telling it to just let me get better kthxbai. Or at least let me breathe unhindered?

In other news, I wasted the entire weekend by sleeping through most of it and reading trashy books when I wasn't sleeping.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you're sick. ): It sounds like the cold I had a couple of weeks ago, too. Bleh.

Does that mean we should postpone our dinner?

I'm looking forward to it, too!

BTW, I seem to remember Zatar is cash-only, so you may want to prepare for that.

That's a wasted weekend? It sounds perfectly spent to me.

Feel better.

Bah -- sounds like the cold I spent all of Christmas week fighting off. There's been some nasty bugs going around.

Do you need someone to make a run for more juices/fluids?

I had a hideous cold last month. With added sinus infection. If you aren't improving after a week, call your doctor, because you may have a secondary infection. (And annoying as the sinus infection was, it was better than bronchitis, which I have sometimes had after a cold. I can sleep with a sinus infection.)

Feel better soon!

If you start feeling spiky pain in your throat, check in with the doctor. I had that once and it was a terrible infection, needing antibiotics.

Just regular sore, I've had good results from Throat Coat tea, which has horehound. Also, it tastes good.

Feel better!

Even though I don't mind at all reading your reviews of the romances you've been reading.

The spiky pain was like having jagged metal cutting into my flesh, and it did not go away at all. My throat felt partially closed with swelling, and I was running a high fever (but was so sick I wasn't really aware of it until roomie hustled me to doctor).

I think anything that lasts more than 3 days warrants checking in with a nurse or someone - at the least, maybe they can give you codeine cough syrup, or something palliative.

I've been running around saying this to everyone, but it really transformed my colds: perhaps try a humidifier running at night? If the pain is in part due to breathing in dry air, the humidifer will help (although if it's from drainage or just random other cold things, perhaps not).

ETA: My coughs went from horrible hacking for weeks post-cold, to less-horrible hacking for a few days post-cold. I can't say about the sore throat, because none of the colds I've had since I got it have had a sore throat more than one or two days. I cannot say if that is due to the luck of the draw, or the humidifier, but it makes me think it *might* help you.

I forget how much mine cost ($30ish? $35?), but I remember being confused at the variety of machines - vaporizers, nebulizers, humidifiers. The humidifier I got is a simple one that sprays an invisible mist out all night long, but can't do menthol additives or anything like that (that would require a vaporizer, I believe).

Frustrating to miss out on a weekend, but it sounds like you really needed the rest. Feel better soon!

I hope that you feel better soon. On the other hand, more reading means more reviews hooray! :)

Licorice root tea sometimes helps my sore throat, better than throat drops. (It's helping this one, right now!) But I've never tried it on a sore throat that bad.

Sleeping and trashy books is more fun when 1) you're not sick, and 2) your to-do list isn't chattering in the back of your head.
