Fantasy Couple, ep. 11-14

Hey, I'm really impressed how non-eventful the big reveal about Jang Chul Soo's lying was!

On the other hand, there are a truly ridiculous amount of coincidences in place to stave off the Billy/Anna reveal. I don't particularly mind the ones like Jang Chul Soo not seeing the wedding picture on the table before Billy grabs it back, but ones in which Yu Kyeong randomly makes up her mind not to tell Jang Chul Soo are too blatant for me. I guess circumstances that make characters not see things = slapstick, but having a character make an actual decision to not say something = stupid. See also: how many times I wanted to whap Billy over the head for not making up his freaking mind.

I would be more inclined to feel sorry for him due to flashbacks if it weren't for his interminable waffling!

I simply sigh at Yu Kyeong and her manipulative smiles.

I am completely amused any time Anna says, "Children," and inserts some homily about life, Anna-style.

But most of all, I love Anna's angst! Her flashback at Kang Ja's party! She's just remembered she's Anna at the end of ep. 14, and I already feel so bad for her. I particularly awwww-ed at Billy talking about gift-giving and Anna telling him not to ask for much from her, and her telling him that she learned at an early age to only give financial-type presents.

I totally melted at Jang Chul Soo telling her he'd find her no matter how far away she went. Awwww! And Anna's rather transparent attempts to keep him from going to Yu Kyeong/leaving/other stuff she wants him to do! And I awwww-ed so much when he told her that she didn't have to worry about Yu Kyeong, and that he would stay with her if she asked him not to go. I particularly love Anna's way of dealing with it: "Fine! Go and leave and have a good life!"

She's so prickly and cute and childlike in her enthusiasm for jjajangmyeon and whatnot while being a complete cynic the next moment.

Anyway, very looking forward to what happens now that she remembers being Jo Anna. My guess is: she forgets stuff with Jang Chul Soo (the faraway place previously foreshadowed) and unlike Billy, he goes after her and gets her to remember again. (Spoil me or hint and DIE!)

The drama is amazing in its ability to make you go "awwww" at things that should make you roll your eyes.

Chul Soo is, in my kdrama watching, completely unique in that he never ever ever once in the course of the drama even considers being with the other girl. Sure, he obviously wishes they were still together at the beginning, but as far as he's concerned, she said she didn't think she could handle the kids and they should break up, and that was that. Even when she wanted to get back together, it was still over.

I think my favorite moment with Anna and the kids was when she was teaching the youngest one to count.

*squashes temptation to even hint*

BTW, I think you'd like Lovers.

And before long, there will be 100 series you want to check out, but don't have time for!
