Guess this show! (answers)

Answers to Guess This Show beneath the cut, though you are of course welcome to keep guessing as much as you want!

I was being mean and going for the non-obvious on a lot of these.

1. Sexual tension, cellular phone, famous opening theme - X-Files
2. Janitor, title spoken by character, sitcom - Scrubs
3. Steampunk, racism, resurrection - Fullmetal Alchemist
4. Female soldier, class conflict, cargo - Firefly (I'm sort of confused about "class conflict," but "cargo" amused me)
5. Child soldier, martial arts, bison - Avatar: the Last Airbender (Bison!)
6. Interracial relationship, double life, surveillance - Spooks (Though this applies to a lot of other shows as well. And really, the interracial relationships aren't highlighted.)
7. Neo noir, homosexual demon, attempted child murder - Angel (Am so amused by "attempted child murder")
8. Knight, classical music, creation story - Princess Tutu
9. Sibling incest subtext, memory loss, biracial child - Heroes (though I don't see the subtext myself)
10. Double suicide, loneliness, religious symbolism, sliced in two, decapitation, strangulation, doll, crushed head, filicide, hanging, erection, face slap, blood splatter (I had to put them all in! Come on! How awesome is it that one show has all these keywords?!) - Neon Genesis Evangelion, the most cracktastic, insane, and completely strange anime of all time. Features all of the above, and then some.

Ohhh! I can't believe I didn't think of Evangelion. If only "gundam cannibalism" was a keyword.

Well, now that I know, Face Slap, Erection, and Religious Symbolism sum up the show pretty well . . .

I only guessed Avatar. Memory loss aside, I was thinking #9 could be BSG- since Lee/Kara are sibling like and you've got the biracial child thing going on. I was scraping my mind trying to think if anything could count as memory loss ("This has all happened before, and it will happen again.").

Oh well. I don't watch a lot of TV.

I would have guessed Eva! But I think the funniest set of keywords is for Avatar.

Damn. Number 10 sounds so cool when you put it like that! Sadly, I think I am one of the few anime fans who was not impressed by EVA.

Really? My sister loved it and I have never run across another fan who didn't really like it. I didn't hate it, I just wasn't really impressed with it.

I got 1, 3, 4, and 8! But am too slow to win.

Totally unrelated question time! Mainly because this is the only way I know how to contact you.

One of your posts last year (http://oyceter.livejournal.com/461559.html) was...well, a turning-point in how I think about racism, how it affects people, and my role in it. This week I am trying to write a column for my university newspaper about racism, as perceived by a white person who is struggling to be helpful in some way. I would like to talk about that post; is it okay if I quote you? And if so, what name should I call you by, if any? I think I could make Oyce work.

You can email me back if you like, or answer here.

Meanwhile, thank you for affecting my brain so much. That's a really remarkable piece of writing.
