Heroes 1x03 One Giant Leap

1x03 One Giant Leap

The plot thickens! The strange symbol thing of Sylar is seen more, LA cop surprisingly doesn't get arrested, and Claire gets a pointy metal thing in her neck.

I continue to be bored by LA cop, and his failed marriage doesn't really intrigue me at all. Same with the Petrelli brothers (at least I remember their names now!), and I want to hit the older brother for using depression as a campaign point and the younger brother for just being stupid. Also, Simone doesn't have much of a personality so far. Also also, finding out your ex-girlfriend has found someone new via drawings you made a while ago is very strange. Also, how does he know that it was her under the umbrella?

Yay! Niki's kid is not only biracial, the network and actors actually show that he is biracial! It is true that Micah's father is possibly criminal and in a gang and his grandmother is over-protective, but I suppose that is counter-balanced by having Simone on the show. She just needs more to do... I also continue to want to slap Niki. On the other hand, I was immensely amused by her in a red shirt and red car saying, "We're going to grandmother's house."

Alas, while Mohesh is sweaty and wears the Tank Top of Sexiness, he doesn't have much to do either. And it's oh-so-convenient that he bumps into Sylar's Sekrit Hideout. *snorfle*

Claire continues to interest me, particularly the Claire of the future (I think), and that final shot with her on the autopsy table, chest wide open, was awesome.

Hiro. Ahhhh, Hiro. I am totally watching the show for you right now. You are awesome. Despite all the gloom and doom of the other superheroes, Hiro is still sunny and optimistic. I love how he is convinced that he must use his powers for good and that people will somehow just believe him. He is so cute! And Ando is pretty cute as well, particularly when he starts buying into Hiro's thing. The connection with Niki is a bit over-the-top, but oh well.

They're just so cute! I love Hiro's enthusiasm! It makes me so happy.

Also, that moment when Hiro gets the Nissan? And turns to Ando to very solemnly pronounce: "Unmei nano sa!"? It is an awesome moment. It sounds like every anime ever, particularly Utena.

Also also, that entire scene when Hiro stops time to save the girl? AWESOME. And him and Ando jumping around in happiness? Even better!

In conclusion, Hiro rocks.

Yes, Hiro does.

I mean, It could the Hiroes show. Right? Driving around the biways of America in their rented Nissan. Looking at Giant Balls of String. Visiting the Spam Museum. Saving people through concentration and comics.

It'd be such a happy show.

I would totally watch that.

Hiro has a blog (http://blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/). Although it would be better if the actor were reading it. :D

I read a few of the comments this morning. I think my favorite was from the guy who rushed to reassure all the other commentors that Hiro was not actually a real person, and that this was a television show.

I haven't watched this yet, but soon!

I actually yelled "unmei!" at the screen. It was so anime.

I second everything you say (especially the great Hiro love) except that Flying Congressman outing his brother as a depressive was the first moment when I found either of their stories interesting. In that sense, I am rooting for him to continue to be a bastard.

I read the Niki-Grandma-Micah scene a little differently. If Micah was my grandson, and his father was wanted for murder and his mother was a crazy stripper, I'd be protective too. My sympathy was entirely with the grandmother. Also, I am not so sure that his father is a murderer. My theory is that Niki's evil reflection/other personality did the murders and her husband got blamed.

I still don't know what Niki's power is. As I have noted from the beginning, MPD is not actually a superpower.

I was wondering if Micah's father could be that one guy in the bar whose thoughts the cop couldn't hear. The guy didn't seem to be threatening even though cop guy collapsed immediately afterward - he'd had a rough day after all.

I couldn't tell who the writers wanted us to sympathize with in that scene, which seems indicative of either their own confusion about WTF is going on with Niki, or that they're setting up some kind of twist involving her.

Yes, Hiro rocks, but wasn't that the most blatant product placement EVAR! I see a future scene:

Hiro: We must stop here for a refreshing and tasty Diet Coke.
Ando: Why? Aren't all American sodas the same?
Hiro: No! Once, while I was in the future, I tasted it and it is the greatest beverage in all of history. The drink of heroes. It is our destiny.
