In which I beseech help from the collective knowledge of LJ:

Recent comments and conversations have got me wanting to learn to dance again. Ballroom, Latin, swing is all ok, though I would prefer something like Irish jigging or Regency dancing or belly dancing. The yellow pages and Google are failing me. Anything around South Bay/Peninsula area with these sorts of classes? Any particular recommendations? I've found a good many links to dance events with brief classes beforehand, but I really want to do something weekly.

Does your town have an adult education center, or something similar? The local one here does dance classes.

The bay area belly dancing (http://staff.haas.berkeley.edu/tmiller/medance.htm). Just click on teachers. Also there are several communities devoted to belly dancing and they will be able to help you know which studios are any good. If you need links to the coms, they are in my user page.

These studios tend to stick around. There's no harm in calling around to see what is available. I found one just down the street from me. I could walk to it if I werent so lazy

You might try the YMCA.

I've been taking Flamenco for the past year, and it's been a lot of fun. Great music, neat rhythms, and you get to have an attitude. Just recently, I've switched over to Spanish Dance, which is very similar but you work more with a partner and use castanets, which are fun little noisemakers. No idea where in the South Bay you'd find lessons, though.
