Argh!! WisCon is on the same weekend as my sister's college graduation! Nooooooooooo! I'm going to miss seeing Robin McKinley! *pouts and whines and throws a tantrum*
Le sigh.
On the topic of things that annoy me, I was in Taiwan and saw a poster of Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle, and I got quite excited about being able to see it in Taiwan (ergo with subtitles). Alas, it doesn't come out there until February. I am thwarted.
In other news, jet lag or something has kicked in really badly, and I keep getting incredibly sleep at 7:30pm on the dot. I also got my car back, joy. Saw Phantom of the Opera with the boy and
fannishly, which is incredibly strange. It's always been an incredibly strange musical, but I guess I just never really realized it when I was listening to it obsessively in seventh grade. It's like Lloyd Weber just threw together all these extraordinarily melodramatic elements and hoped that they would work. Also, Raoul is boring.
Partially watched the Alias season premiere and promptly began yelling at the TV again. Must remember not to watch this show because the gender dynamics piss me off so much.

Have to agree with you about Alias. I watched the season premiere and got bored after the first half hour, quit after the second half hour. I had never seen it before, and frankly, don't see what the fuss is about it.
Are you watching Lost? great show.

I watched the pilot of Lost and ended up bailing out because it looked like JJ was doing a lot of the same gender stuff there that he was doing with Alias that I dislike. I may end up watching later if everyone keeps raving though.

LOL! Yep, felt the same way. Getting a little too much into the
"hot chick" surrounded by men and let's see how many skimpy outfits we can put her in within the first fifteen minutes without stretching the audience's suspension of disbelief. Alias did not
work for me this week. I guess it would bug me less if there
were more shows on Tv were women actually had a good role and didn't have to be skinny, hot chick. I really feel sorry for today's actresses. Not a career I'd want. Men get all the good roles.

Sigh. Despite the mixed messages in Buffy in the latter seasons, I miss the fact that they had so many different types of women on the show.

It's like this giant ball of kinks, made into a musical.
