I am quite grumpy because I stayed up way too late last night reading Snape and Hermione fic, of all things. It's really hard finding good Snape and Hermione fic, with scary Hermione and not-nice Snape! Or so says she who is not a part of that fandom at all. I have no idea why this pairing has caught my attention... well, not really a pairing... I find I really like fics like Jenny-O's Footnotes. Plus, I like Snape. He's interesting. And I like Hermione.

Also annoyed because Greenpeace people and Scientologist people have people passing out flyers on each side of the bookstore (the new Scientology center opened up next to the bookstore recently). Normally, this would be ok, except I walk past them two or three times a day. So far I seem to be attracting little attention, but it's rather annoying having to worry about people accosting you on the streets several times a day. I don't like talking to strangers.

Oooo, Snape's one of my favorite characters. (And, I love that Alan Rickman plays him in the movies.) I don't blame you for your reading-materials...

What is a 'pairing' anyway? I am new to reading fanfic and I sort of assumed that if there was a '/' between to names, it meant a sexual or romantic pairing (whether it was 'slash' or 'het'). So I go to read it and sometimes it's sexy, and sometimes it's just sexual innuendo, and sometimes it's just those two characters.

Shouldn't there be a nomenclature code or something, like if it's platonic, it should be a '-' dash or a '+' plus? I go out of my way to put a + plus sign between two names when I don't mean romantic or sexual, like Angel+Connor means father-son 'shipping.

And then some people actually say, "this is slash", but then it's not really sexual at all.

Just grumbling, 'cause I'm bored and I have an hour of work left. ; )

Yeah, what is it about HP fandom that lends itself to being all about kink pairings? The few times I've suddenly had itches for reading HP fic have been prompted by desires for first Harry/Ron/Hermione, then Harry/Ron, then Harry/Hermione a few nights back, and one memorable, shameful time, Ron/Ginny. (I read one. good. fic., okay? *g*)

But I'd never just get on an HP archive and read whatever comes down the pike; I'm always hunting for either the kink pairing I'm in search of, or stunt pairings like Ron/Pansy or Draco/Luna.

In other words; it's not you, it's the fandom. *g*

Well, if you ever find yourself on a kinkquest like mine, try The Restricted Section (http://restrictedsection.org), which is full of "adult" fic (requires a login/password with a free signup, in fact), and has a very good search engine, along with an archive that's very easy to search. Other than that, I just rely on BSO, Poly Recs, etc.

No prob -- enjoy! (though you may want a little, er, privacy -- most of it is on the steamy side. *g*) And BSO is Bright Shiny Objects, the multifandom recs site I can't remember the website for at the moment (though I think I have a link here (http://thedoublehelix.org/sophia/links.html).
